Gemma Pagliei provides her students with an intensive training regimen of Pilates and yoga based exercise, structured on each individual student's movement skills and experience. All students, whether new or experienced, enter her program through the same door. Gemma provides a comprehensive evaluation session as the starting point.
When I first met Gemma I knew I was inflexible. How inflexible I am still stunned to recall. Gemma's greatest attribute is that she always made me feel good about myself, praising my progress (no matter how small) and sharing in my delight at my progress. I was terrified to make that first appointment but every day I am so proud of myself for taking that first step, and so relieved that I found Gemma, who is patient, but persistent.
Movement is the body's fuel. It is movement that keeps our bodies going. Because we keep moving, we are able to do so. Our bodies have certain "ranges of motion." Our spine moves, and our limbs move. Everyday, our spine and limbs need to move through these ranges in order to maintain strength and flexibility.
Joseph Hubertus Pilates (pronounced Puh-lah-tes: of Greek origin), was born in 1880, near Dusseldorf, Germany. As a child, he suffered from such ailments as: asthma, rickets and rheumatic fever. Determined to overcome these, he began studying any type of exercise method he could find, including: yoga, Zen and ancient Greek and Roman exercise regimens.
Gemma believes Chiropractic treatment is an important part of wellness regimens, and works in conjunction with Pilates, yoga and exercise to alleviate chronic pain, discomfort, rehabilitate injuries and maintain the body's structural alignment and health. While Pilates and yoga help realign the body through movement, in some cases, movement is not enough.
