Produce new, traditional, local, dramatic, comedic and musical and experimental theatrical works at a low cost to the public. 3. 5. Instill in the community a sense of unity and cohesion through the presentation of works that challenge conventional ideals and commonly accepted mores. Services
The Art Centre Theatre offers a community-based Theatre Arts Program for everyone--all ages, all actors! The celebration of diversity and the unique talent of the individuals in our extended family make us "The Place to ACT for Life!" ANY AMOUNT is appreciated! And please, consider a recurring monthly, quarterly, or annual donation with your credit card--we accept all major credit cards for one-time and recurring contributions.
Seats that are not occupied or confirmed as checked in by the scheduled start time of a show are subject to release and resale. If a performance is sold out, you may be placed on our stand-by list when you arrive at the theatre, approximately 1/2 hour prior to curtain. We do not place names on the stand-by list unless you are physically present at the theatre.
Please be prepared with a one-minute comedic monologue. Every year ACT rounds up public, private, and home-school kids ages 12-18 and puts them to work. Interested parties should have reliable transportation, an open summer schedule, a pleasant nature, enjoy children and adults, and be willing to learn multiple scripts.
You may also register at the theatre the day of the audition. You can find show descriptions on our Adult Productions page. If you cannot audition at the published day/time listed below, please email auditions@artcentretheatre.com for an appointment or other arrangement's with the show's director. In order to be in the adult cast of a show you must be over the age of 18 unless you receive prior permission from the office.
If you have participated in a tuition-based show and performed at least one production in the last year you may be eligible for an internship at one of our camps. Interns will be taken behind the scenes and learn the ins and outs in how to manage a production. They'll be learning by doing and be taught by our team of Directors.

My daughter participated two programs with them this summer. Staff were really nice and my daughter had a pleasant time with them. Plus, she learned a lot about communication, teamworking and also gained self-confidence while performing in front of the audience.
I really appreciate their time and efforts.

I absolutely adore this place and you can tell there is a lot of hard work, heart, and dedication that goes into every event, as well as, every show. I'm honored to help out and get work here. Theatre isn't meant to be easy or rainbows everyday, it's overcoming any doubt you have in yourself, it teaches you to support those around you, it pushes you to have courage on and off the stage, and it allows you to harness your compassion for the arts in something beyond the day to day activities and crazy world we are seeing these days. Whether you're 8 years old or 80 years old, you will learn something

Great show with wonderful actors. I saw the Wizard of Oz, and it was amazing. It is a small theater with only a few rows of seats on three sides. There isn't a raised stage, but that makes the audience that much closer to the show. It felt like we were there in the story with Dorothy. In fact, during one of the songs, I was brought into the play as the girl the tin man loved, and my friend next to me was brought in as the mean mother who didn't like the match and ask the witch to turn the tin man into tin. They also brought in other members of the audience and had a foam machine "snow" in a corner

Obscure location, looks like this play house is transitioning from another location. Still looks like they have some work to do but the actresses were all pretty good. Considering what they are work with at the moment they all did a great job. Looking forward to seeing the theater completed.

Had a wonderful time tonight with my son. We found it to be a great entertaining option, surrounded by warm friendly and talented people. Inside is a tad cool-so bring your favorite sweater or lap blanket just in case. We will definitely be back!!!

It is a small, cozy theater staff by a lot of volunteers. It's like community theater however I was impressed with some of the actors who seemed like professional level actors. It's an informal type of theater.

We saw a show over the holiday season. I had not ever been there before. What a cute/cool venue for a black box theater. The only drawback is that the bathrooms are down a very narrow hall, past the concession stand. It's sort of crowded before a show because there isn't much space to wait inside. If the weather is nice they have a huge lawn and patio to use while you wait.

This place is OKAY - BEWARE OF THE EXTRA COSTS!!! everything this place does is to make money, it started off as one price and the first day of camp we were give 30 pages of instructions on volunteer requirements and additional costs. We also decided to do the second set of shows which I regret since parents only get 5 free tickets and siblings any age are included in those comp tickets. Any extra tickets are $15 plus $3 processing fee. Im sorry but this is a children's camp we already paid for not broadway. $18 a ticket is ridoculous!!

I registered my three girls for CATS starting this coming Monday (07/02/18) and paid in full. They sent me a long email AFTER I registered with an attached contract. This contract is asking me to sign up for additional fees and charges on added conditions. These conditions include 1) Parents are required to assist with "Set Build" & "Strike Set" or pay $100 for each effort (4 hours) & you can bring Beer. 2) Purchase Unitard and wig ($45) for each kid or wear your own costume. 3) If late picking up kids, pay $1/per

We've been here quite a few times but we were never treated well but the last 2 time it was just awful how they treated us. We were 5 minutes late and the manager said they gave away our seats but to go in and see what we could find. That's okay, it was our fault. We go in and our seats are open but we didn't want to walk in front of anyone while the play was going so grabbed two seats at the door.
A couple of minutes later, in walks the manager with other late arrivals, with a flashlight, walks past the stage and seats these people in our seats. Well, that was annoying.

My first play in this theater yesterday, and was quite pleased at the level of acting and the production of Cabaret. It's a small theater but they used their space well.
Me and my friend enjoyed the show. Perhaps one or two of the singers went a little off key while singing, but still a nice entertaining show
I look forward to attending more shows here.

I have been to many of the local community theaters in the North Texas area. This has got to be the most unprofessional theater. I came for a musical production. First there is no marking for the seats so someone had to say ok, this row and kind of leave 2 people to your right. When the simplest and cheap solution is to put stickies on the seat/seatbacks with the seat number so people know.

The music played in the background was horrible. I should have known when they have someone in charge of the sound who did not know how to turn the music off when the director came to give the welcome talk

I have not even see a show here, but judging by the way the owner spoke to me when I was trying to see about getting a refund due to an emergency was beyond disrespectful and rude. He has no class and no customer service. I would suggest staying far away!

The theater itself is just as I expected. Quite small and crowded. Makes for an intimate setting even during intermission. I did get a chance to skim some other reviews for this place prior to actually venturing out here just to get idea of how accurate the praises and/or criticisms are.

Seating is bench style so that was a little different than I anticipated. I was assuming there'd be chairs and the bench style is actually a welcome surprise. We sat at "seats" A15 and A16 which is the first row on the far right if you're facing the stage. The only reason I didn&apos

After reading a lot of the reviews and not being sure what to think I decided to give this Small Intimate Venue a shot. First of all there was plenty of parking which is nice and it was free which is even nicer! As far as the venue is concerned it is small, very small and the dive bar of community theater to classify it a bit.

We came on a Friday night to see the Adult Cast version of The Nightmare Before Christmas. It started off a little sluggish and slow and left me a bit lost as I could tell most of the cast was either just doing this as a hobby or getting their feet wet in the theatre scene

It's such a shame that local theater in Plano has to be dissuaded and disenchanted by the owner of this theater. If you enjoy verbal abuse and misogyny then this is the theater for you. The owner Jaime treats the actors (volunteers, mind you) as if they were no more than dirt on his shoes.

I personally witnessed him using profanity in front of children as well as berating an ASL interpreter for "being in his way" when she was volunteering to allow the deaf audience to be able to share in the theater experience.

With so many community outlets in the DFW area please go to another

This may be my fault, I didn't know this place is community theater. As amateur theater goes, it was not great. the venue was weird too but I guess when it's not a big production house you can't expect a whole lot more.

Bad house management. At show time, we were tired of waiting and left. By then, I didn't care if the play was good or not.

We showed up early (as it's a bit of a hike) and got to sit around a long time. About 20 minutes before show time, the lobby doors were open but the lights weren't on. Around 5 minutes before show time, the lights were on (still pretty dark), but a rehearsal for the next show was ongoing. We watched those rehearsals on various monitors in the lobby. We were told that the rehearsal was running long and that we'd just have to wait for it to end before

One of our friends and his daughter are both in various productions here and it's always a blast. Whether it's family-friendly Annie or an 18+ only comedy show, it's totally worth the price of admission!

You can tell that everyone involved really cares, and the kiddos learn a lot.

They have concessions that you can bring into the theatre, the front row audience feels like they're a part of the show, and everyone seems to know everyone else. We only know one family (dad and daughter are involved in the shows and mom sometimes takes tickets, or just comes to shows to support

The Art Centre Theatre is an amazing treasure in Plano, Texas! I was able to find quite a variety of shows offered there, with shows for little ones, families, and ones with more mature material for adults. They offer workshops, camps, and community theater for all ages. I was very impressed with the lineup of teaching and directing talent that the theater offers, giving much credibility to their programs and offerings. The facility is well cared for, with a large lawn, several rooms for classes and a nice quaint theater. The creativity I have observed in several of the shows I have seen performed
