A composite (tooth colored) filling is used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc. The decayed or affected portion of the tooth will be removed and then filled with a composite filling. Composite fillings are widely used today.

Because composite fillings are tooth colored, they can be closely matched to the color of existing teeth, and are more aesthetically suited for use in front teeth or the more visible areas of the teeth. As with most dental restorations, composite fillings are not permanent and may someday have to be replaced.
Root canal therapy is treatment used to repair and save a tooth that has been damaged or infected due to a deep cavity, a cracked tooth, or tooth trauma. The treatment involves removing the pulp of the tooth which contains the tooth's nerve and blood supply, and cleaning the infected area. The pulp is most important during the formation of teeth, but provides sensation, support, and nourishment throughout the life of the tooth.
When a tooth is affected by severe decay, infection of its pulp, advanced gum disease or injury, tooth removal may become unavoidable. Dental extraction is also necessary if you have an oral infection plus a deficient immune system or the need for an organ transplant. You may even need a healthy tooth pulled if it is crowding your other teeth.

Okay, now that the pandemic has calmed down I went back to Burns to take care of a cracked tooth that needed an overlay as well as three fillings that I had "ground out" by grinding my teeth at night.
My guy is the younger dentist William. The other dentists are his Dad and Uncle (I think) so it can get confusing.
William is a young guy, I'd guess in late 20s or early 30s. What continues to impress me is that he really loves what he's doing and is really good at it!
I felt completely comfortable and he explained everything as we went along and the work was done perfectly over two 1 1/2 hour

We had an emergency with our eight year old son and even though it was close to closing time when we called, Dr. Burns patiently took us through some steps to examine and explain steps we could take without needing to come in for any procedures. Such a caring and honest professional is a true treasure to our community. Thanks again!

I grew up receiving excellent care from Dr. Mike, and have just had a molar crowned by Dr. William M. As someone with a low pain tolerance I am very appreciative of the attention to detail, and excellent communication . I was very anxious about the procedure, but am relieved to say it could not have gone better. Everything went smoothly and without discomfort. Highly recommend this practice if you are searching. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I never knew there was anything I could do about my teeth that were moving & i had a crooked smile & overbite. Dr. William told me about Invisiline & now I have straight teeth & a great smile! Thanks

My first visit to Burns Family Dentistry was very positive. The staff explained the charges up front, the exam was thorough and each phase of the process was explained in detail. The hygienist, Keri, was really competent and efficient. Also the office was very pleasant and cozy. I will return!

I'm reviewing Burns Family Dentistry in Wilmington, NC, not Deerfield, IL. Wanted to make that clear!
I always have a great experience at my check-ups. Both Eric and Casey Burns are terrific, professional, and friendly. The office is beautiful and all the staff are amazing.

A good dentist has learned about teeth, bones, roots, mouth structure, etc. However, Dr. Burns evaluates your personal dental issues, has an in depth discussion with you explaining his findings, and works TOGETHER with you solve any immediate problem and create a long range dental health plan. Starting at age 6, prior dentists had damaged my teeth and medicine (tetracycline , etc.) weakened them. When I moved, the 1st referral was to Dr. Burns. Unfortunately, by then I had several crowns, root canals, tooth extractions, fillings in every tooth (some were refilled 3+times, leaving little actual
