Dr. Thomas G. Berbos, a South Dakota native, is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, as well as the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Berbos completed his undergraduate education at Creighton University and received his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville TN.

I have been going to Dr. Berbos for years and he is absolutely wonderful. The staff switched me to Dr. NEWELL. I saw her in December and had never seen her before. She came in and sat in front of the computer and did not introduce herself. She treated me like I was just a number in her day and hurried to get it over with, never saying hello or asking me any questions about my eyes. She just read what the tech wrote.
She changed my contact prescription slightly. When I received the contact it did not fit properly and was uncomfortable so much so that I could not wear it.

This place over charges you an insane amount. Last year I got a bill for 100 dollars after I paid for my eye appt and contacts and was told "well there was more charges later on that we found weren't paid for"...so this year I got contacts, glasses, and an eye exam. I was told it would be 500 something. So I paid it. I asked the front desk lady "So is this it, I'm good, completely paid up?" I was told yes, I was good. A few weeks later I received another bill for 90 dollars. For things I already paid for. This place is whack. I won't be going back for my annual next year.

I would NOT recommend going here! I have never left a review anywhere but I am so angry I can barely type! I scheduled a wellness check and my vision insurance co-pay was supposed to be $10. When I called today about the $205 invoice for my office visit I was told they made a medical diagnosis (a freckle in my eye) and a note in my chart to 'watch' it for changes. They claimed this 'diagnosis' meant they couldn't bill my vision insurance. They did nothing to 'treat' my 'condition'; they only manipulated the coding to squeeze the maximum money they could from me. What a scam!

Dr. Berbos is friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough. All but one staff member are as well. Unfortunately, she is the proverbial rotten apple. They moved her to the back for awhile, but she's now back at the reception desk. I've personally witnessed her accost people about their bills in front of a waiting room full of other patients, as well as their children. Most recently, I saw her complaining loudly to the friendly, blonde receptionist about a patient who was unable to afford an insurance copay while said patient was sitting a few feet away from them. This woman needs a dose
