Asheville chiropractor, Dr. Derek Kasten began his chiropractic career by caring for hard working adults and athletes from Purdue University. He was also the team chiropractor for a professional woman's and men's soccer club (which he also played for) named FC Indiana. Starting off in practice his focus was on musculoskeletal conditions such as low back pain, sciatica, neck pain, headaches and migraines, as well as a myriad of sports injuries.
After Dr. Derek Kasten had his first child and saw the importance of chiropractic care in helping children grow and develop, he decided to expand his approach by seeking a certification from the International Chiropractic Pediatrics Association. He is now Asheville's certified ICPA specialist in pediatric and prenatal chiropractic care.

Dr. Derek and his family moved to Asheville because they know - from their many visits over the years to see family here - that the community values and amenities are congruent with their lifestyle. This genuine fit is important to the Kastens, since their philosophy is to be an example through their own choices and living.
Throughout her life Dr. Marielis has always been interested in providing meaningful and effective healthcare in the most connected and natural way. One day after hearing the philosophy of Chiropractic and how it allows the body to heal naturally by simply using one's hands, she decided to become a chiropractor without ever having been to one her whole life!
Chiropractic has always been a part of my life, and it is something I am very passionate about. I am a massage therapist, certified Chiropractic Assistant, and have a background in dance and fitness. I have worked in the health and wellness field for over a decade and I am proud to be a member of the One Love Team.
Because of our focus on ALL AGES including healthy families, children and athletes, we must address the issues affecting them. Many of the issues and neurodevelopmental problems children and adults face today are symptomatic of neural interference (Subluxation), and chiropractic can help! One Love Chiropractic has an emphasis on Sports Injuries and Athletes, as well as, Pediatric Care and Prenatal Chiropractic Care.
Our primary goal as a certified pediatric chiropractic office is to put ourselves in the shoes of each child with a chronic issue, and help them compassionately. A specific, safe chiropractic adjustment can help improve the function of the body as a whole, which will improve development. This is especially beneficial for a premie who is stuck in protection and is still learning to nurse and breath on their own.

I am so grateful for One Love Chiro. I usually come here after work and I’ve been coming here for awhile now and no matter how busy or demanding my day was I can always come here and decompress. Dr. Derek has been my healing savior after a fall down the stairs and a broken vertebra. After orthopedic evaluation, and MRIs, my fracture was missed. Dr. Derek localized my pain, took different x/rays, directed me to get another MRI, which revealed the real problem. He treated me CAREFULLY, DELICATELY at first, as he was afraid to hurt me further. As time passed and healing occurred over months, he gradually did more for me as I could tolerate treatment.
I would not be pain free and enjoying my life as I am without his intuition, knowledge, caring and expertise.

Dr Derek was recommended to me by the end of my first pregnancy as a Webster certified chiropractor. He helped alleviate aches and pains of my third trimester. After I had a baby, our entire family started getting adjustments at OLC. It helped us all to stay healthy. During this time dr. Derek has been the only doctor that we needed. Now, that I am pregnant with our second baby, I feel better than the first time around, even though I am even an older mom now. After being in crippling pain my bestie referred me to your office. After the first appointment I could tell such a difference. I felt welcome and at ease immediately upon arriving to One Love Chiropractic! I am over 41 weeks pregnant and was simply hoping to utilize chiropractic care as recommended by my midwife to help the baby get into a better position to encourage labor. I paid cash pay without using my insurance and was immediately given a price for the service which is always refreshing. Other chiropractic offices were unable to give me a price without a consultation which was frustrating. Additionally, other offices were very pushy wanting me to consider monthly chiropractic care. I absolutely love One Love! The office is clean and welcoming. The front desk receptionist was incredibly friendly and informative. Dr. Derek is incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and explained everything he was doing while using images to show me how my posture was and how it related to my pain. I first saw him while 30 weeks pregnant and in so much low back pain that I could hardly function. After the first appointment, my pain went from an 8/10 to a 5/10 the first day, then a 2/10 by the second day post adjustment. I returned a week later and after that appointment my pain completely vanished

Dr. Derek and Jenny at the front desk are absolutely wonderful. This is the first time in years I have felt very hopeful for finding relief of my symptoms. I already feel better and healthier than ever even being 26 weeks pregnant. The office is wonderful and the fruit bowl, hot tea station, and lending library are a wonderful touch!
