Created in 1982, Flashback has become an Austin institution. Beginning in a small house on South Lamar, little did we know then that Flashback would grow to be one of the premier vintage stores in Austin. Throughout the years, we have dressed musicians, theater groups, hippies, flower children, hipsters, punks, soccer moms, celebrities and everyone in between.

We have a loyal following of regular customers who come back often to see what new treasures we've discovered. We take elements of artistry, self-expression, theater, outrageousness, and beautifully constructed garments and meld them together into an awesome experience.all in a funky little house in South Austin.

I read the reviewed and as previously stated if you’re a person of color to stay away from this store. It’s very unfortunate that in the year 2021 we still have this problem. We were in and out due to the hovering of the workers. You can probably find better clothes at goodwill

Stopped by and sold some cool vintage western shirts, Flashback has some really cool beaded things and a backroom of very cool vintage mens wear. Check'em out. First rate service and folks!

They have vintage clothes for the whole family. After visiting four other places this shop had the most authentic and appealing clothing for men (and, of course, women). We will be returning here when back in town.

We took our clothes there on Saturday and my husband said the lady who was there attending to him was really nice and she brought a lot of our things and gave us a check. I’m glad because buffalo exchange is so picky. We took a big tote full of clothes and they only took like 10 items. It’s very annoying. I felt like I wasted my time going to Austin, but I’m glad we found this place now! Thank you :)

Items in the shop are nice but many of the items are overpriced and not vintage. A worker (the owner I believe- an older woman with blonde and colored hair) was incredibly rude to members of my group. We parked in front of the shop where the worker proceeded to harass us after we had exited the shop. 4 members of my party decided to order chores next door as I continued to shop. The worker began taking photos of our vehicle stating we were across two spots. We would have moved if she asked nicely but she wanted to argue and scream. The rest of my group got their churros and I completed my shopping

Solid selection of 90's clothes. Prices seemed a little steep which unfortunately left me walking out empty-handed. If you have some cash to burn however, you'll likely find a gem.

If your a colored person, stay away from this store. The owner thinks your stealing from her store. I have been here 4 times and she follows me everywhere and even when i made a purchase. Never will come back again.

There was a lot of... miscommunication. Sure they have nice items, but in there was an imbalance of trust. Upon walking in, the owner tells my friends to hand over they're bags, gives me the ok to keep my holster pouch since it's small, and forgets this rule when other customers come in. I forgive this thinking maybe she's had a bad experience with a customer robbing her before. KEEPING that in mind, at the end of our long visit as we're carrying our would be purchases to the counter, only then does the owner inform us that we'd have to pay in cash since their internet has been down. Then she asks

The first visit wasn't the best but there was an awesome selection of clothes. My next visits on the other hand were amazing. Although the power lines were knocked over and made their internet go out, the ladies were super helpful and didn't let the stress get to them. They profusely apologized for the inconvenience so the heads up was appreciated. Any time I'm in Austin I'll definitely shop here!

I bought an awesome pair of gold vintage ankle boots there once. I thought the price for them ($40.00) was rather high; but the boots were in excellent condition. The decor is funky South Austin style and they have good service.
