Acupuncture is the ancient art and science of treating and healing disease by inserting hair-thin needles into specific points in the body (and no, they don't hurt!). The points are specially chosen for each individual, and even vary from visit to visit based on what's going on in your body that day!

Other reviewers have told about the kindness, empathy and skill of James. I agree with it all. He, unlike my many Western doctors, takes a lot of time listening to my medical concerns- he can easily relate what western docs tell me- plus he takes plenty of time assessing my current condition using Oriental methods and can tell me about me in a way that I can process and then make good decisions.
Our national healthcare system would be so much better if all doctors would take as much time and care with their patients.
Finally, getting a "whole body" opinion from someone like James would pay dividends

Dr. Mohebali was the first Chinese medicine practitioner I ever visited, and to be honest I was initially unsure of what to expect. I was soon put at ease, however, by Dr. Mohebali's kindness, love for his work, and understanding of both Chinese as well as Western medicine.
I came to Dr. Mohebali with a number of ailments including lower back pain and weakness/pain in my hands (early onset arthritis?!) He was able to cut the lower back pain in half in the first visit and it was greatly diminished over the course of subsequent treatments. The weakness/pain in my hands disappeared after the first

I've struggled with back pain for over half of my life and have been to a number of chiropractors who helped to make the pain a bit more bearable. However, when I started seeing James at Rutherford Family Acupuncture, I saw immense relief after only one session. I was treated for a number of months before moving from the area. While I'm not "cured" - I have a number of structural things wrong with my back - my pain is significantly less than it used to be.
James is a great acupuncturist who will take time to listen to what is ailing you before he attempts to treat you. He tries to get a "big picture

I went to see James/Dr. Mohebali because a friend of ours highly recommended him, and had experienced good results. Having struggled with a variety of digestive issues, anxiety, and depression for years, just to name a few, I went, feeling skeptical about acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I was very, very nervous, and have a real phobia of needles. James listened very carefully as I explained my issues, took careful notes, and asked questions. He helped calm my anxious nerves. I noticed an improvement in my symptoms after several treatments, and especially with continued visits. He also prescribed
