Nearly three decades ago, the seeds of Data Specialties Inc. (DSI) were sown in a night school class at Los Angeles Trade Technical College where Phil Rafferty and Ric Maxson first met as students. Soon the two were working side by side at a Los Angeles-based technology company. During the next ten years, Phil and Ric came to recognize there was an urgent need for a specialty contractor in the data services industry.
From the entrepreneurial idea that the exploding technology revolution would value a highly ethical company that could design and build data centers - DSI was born. Today the company has three offices: our headquarters in Southern California and satellite offices in Northern California and Arizona.

Phil Rafferty is President and Co-Founder for DSI, and has more than 30 years of experience in the data center business. Prior to co-founding DSI in 1991, he was the General Manager for a Los Angeles-based data center electrical contractor. Ric Maxson is Co-founder, Owner and Operations Lead for DSI, one of the country's most successful data center design/build companies and electrical contractors.

We assess all factors, such as space requirements, power and cooling availability, tolerance for physical and operational disruption, and utility costs when developing engineering designs tailored to your specific needs.
