Services
Acupuncture involves the insertion of needles into specific points of the body to stimulate the body's meridians and channels to promote health and well being. Acupuncture Therapy has been used in China for thousands of years to alleviate pain and illness. Moxibustion therapy utilizes moxa or the mugwort herb.
I went to see Dawit for neck and back pain. There was definite improvement in my neck and back, but the amazing thing was that he helped me with so many other things! My blood pressure has gone down. Even while on insulin, my blood sugar stayed high. My doctor couldn't figure out why. After starting my treatments with Dawit, my blood sugar normalized and my doctor was amazed.
You can also use your medical savings account (FSA or HSA) to pay for your Acupuncture services. We do not accept insurance in the office but if you have out of network Acupuncture benefits with your insurance company, we are able to provide you with a coded receipt. You would turn in your receipt to your insurance company's claims department and they would reimburse you directly.

The first time I met Dawit, he hovered his hand around my body and sensed that I have trauma in my shoulder trap area. I suffered a whiplash injury a few years back and just by his senses, he was able to detect the trauma. From there, he treated my trauma with acupuncture. From muscle stiffness, to light sensitivity to the eye and chronic migraines, Dawit was able to neutralize all issues within three sessions. I did not know that I could ever feel this good again. After 10+ years of living with prostatitis and going through 3 rounds of powerful antibiotics only to see the symptoms come back when I’m off the meds I was almost certain that this thing is never going away.
Dawit took his time asking me about my life style and then focused on the root cause of the problem and layed out the treatment plan and explained how many steps to go achieve the best result and I strictly followed those steps and got magnificent result.

Shady Grove Fertility recommended that I visit Dawit Assefa after three failed IUIs. I wasn't familiar with acupuncture for fertility but decided to give it a chance since it I've heard great things about acupuncture in general. Dawit has such a calming presence. I went in with 0 expectations and left my first appointment feeling light. I don't know how else to explain it. His ability to connect with you on such a personal journey is unlike any treatment I've received from medical professionals during this experience. If you are suffering of severe shoulder, knee, or back pain, please pay attention to my experience. For months I was in pain due to the frozen shoulder condition I was diagnosed with several months ago. Fortunately my niece told me about an acupuncturist in Falls Church, VA.

I was seeing Dawit on a consistent basis for years until I moved last year. I love and truly miss his services. Dawit was compassionate and worked with me to provide great acupuncture techniques that helped with my MS symptoms and fertility issues. While I was under his care my MS flares were greatly reduced. My husband and I consider Dawit an amazing healer. In fact, we call him our miracle worker. Over the last few years, I've gone to him for a twisted ankle, a twisted knee, and pain in my lower back, and in every case he has been able to relief my pain and fix my problem using Chinese and homeopathic medicine -- acupuncture, herbs, and other treatments -- to great effect. He also generally gives me stretches or other things I can do at home to help resolve my issue. His approach is holistic, which I appreciate. I recommend him highly.

I HIGHLY recommend Dawit if you're looking for fertility help through acupuncture. My husband and I decided to have me try acupuncture after actively trying to conceive for a year with no luck. My OBGYN ran several tests to check my fertility and everything came back normal. My husband did a semen analyst and his results were also normal. Being told we were both healthy and fertile made it even more frustrating that we weren't getting pregnant. My sister had success getting pregnant with acupuncture, so I figured it was worth a try. For almost two years my husband and I tried to get pregnant with failed attempts. We were just about to start the IVF round and a co-worker told me about Accupuncture so we gave it a try. My initial reason was to see Dawitt for Fertitily but got so much more. The initial consultation was very details and he was able to help with so much. Lack of Sleep, regulating my body temperate so I was not hot all the time, constantly thirsty...all that went away after my very first treatment. I went to Dawit following a pregnancy loss because I wanted to destress and regulate my body. I appreciated his professionalism, patience with me, and ability to explain more to me about what was going on with my body than any other professional I'd seen prior. I saw him for almost four months and at the end of the fourth month, I am very happy to say that my husband and I found out that we were expecting. I went to Dr.Dawit about 2 weeks ago to get acupuncture for my recent diagnosis of PCOS. I was blown away when I ovulated the next day after my acupuncture! I hadn't had a regular period for about 6 months now & what do you know, I had a full regular period (3-4days) the following week! His professionalism & easy-going personality made this experience that much better! I've been telling all my friends about it! I owe two successful pregnancies in no small part to Dawit. He is the "medicine man" I recommend to anyone trying to conceive, particularly if you're several cycles in and starting to feel stressed. Dawit's greatest magic is to make that stress go away -- plenty of people will flippantly advise you to "just relax!", but Dawit's needles will physically make this happen. He treated me for two cycles, two years apart. And each time his good work resulted in a BFP, a healthy pregnancy with no ancillary health issues, and eventually, a perfect baby girl.
