Mental health and its treatment are stigmatized, which makes the initiation of psychiatric treatment intimidating for many. This is especially true when people seek care for sexual or substance use disorders. I pay particular attention to this barrier to care by providing a professional, nonjudgmental, and confidential space for consultation and treatment.
Telepsychiatry is also available when appropriate to increase access to care. I went to medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons where I also obtained a Masters of Public Health. In my professional career, I have obtained additional training in the evaluation and treatment of sexual disorders through NYU's Program in Human Sexuality.

Using substances or undertaking repetitive behaviors like gambling to the point that it causes significant impairment or distress is what we define as addiction. At first, the use of a substance is an impulsive act that leads to an immediate and temporary reward. Over time, however, tolerance develops and the act becomes compulsive.
