Services
Proper eye care is important for people of all ages and regular eye exams are encouraged for everyone, but especially for those already using glasses or contact lenses. Your vision plays a vital role in your life each and every day, which is why it is so important to take the right steps for maintaining good eye health.
Here at Progressive Optometry Inc., we really appreciate our patients. We are proud of all of our eye care services and are glad that you continue to come to us for all of your eye care needs. We are dedicated to providing the very best care to our patients. We also know that there are a lot of choices, so we are happy to know that you continue coming to us for all of your eye care needs.
Your vision is vital to your overall quality of life, which is why it is important to have your vision regularly checked and evaluated by a qualified optometrist. We at Progressive Optometry of the Ashland, OR area have the skills and experience necessary to care for your eyes - catching eye illnesses and diseases before they become untreatable.
The field of optometry changes quickly, and now many more patients are able to enjoy the flexibility of wearing contact lenses to correct their vision. Contact lens exams include tests that are not always performed in regular eye exams, so if you are considering contact lenses, be sure to let us know when you schedule your exam.
Computer Vision is a relatively new term within the optometry field and refers to eye problems associated with the prolonged use of computers and electronics that use a digital screen. Although it can be temporary, there are times when computer vision can strain the eyes to a degree that permanently affects your vision as well.

Unbelievable! Amazing people here. I lost a pair of glasses and my spare pair were really flimsy. Leaving for a trip in a few days, so it was kind of an emergency to get new ones. Same day appointment, eye exam and new frame/lenses in 65 minutes total. Special thanks to the front desk staff Chris and Veronica for understanding the urgency and for making it all happen! THANK YOU!! :-)

I came to Dr. Duke to address difficulty with double vision. He truly is "not your ordinary eye doctor!" He took the time to give a thorough exam and now i can see clearly close up (as in reading music) and far away as for driving. I fully recommend Dr. Dukes and his staff for personal service and professional competence.

I would give them a 0 star rating if it would let me! I have never been treated so poorly in my entire life, yes my entire life! My recent experience with Dr. Dukes has me literally shaking. I cannot fathom how one runs a a business like this but I have heard things from others about Dr. Dukes being a hot head! No need to go into detail about how you accused me over and over again of being a liar but let’s not forget how you prescribed glasses to my child that doesn’t actually need glasses and billed my insurance for them! 3 sessions of vision therapy at $200 a session, we’ll see how those

Broke my glasses while staying at RV park in Ashland just prior to July 4th. Needed them repaired before all closed for holiday. Progressive repaired quickly, expertly and very graciously for “no charge”. Thank you again!

My exam was very quick. So quick it was concerning, like the optometrist had somewhere to be and I was wasting his time. I bought frames as well and when I picked up my new glasses, I could tell instantly that something was wrong. I felt cross-eyed almost and mentioned this. But they assured me that it was "normal" and my eyes would need a few weeks to adjust to the new prescription. My eyes continued to feel cross-eyed for over a month.
When I called to have them re-checked, I got in same-day. The optometrist was just as fast this time, and kept asking me to read lines of letters while

Dr. Dukes is the best! He was the only one to find, explain and correct my problem. He and his staff are so professional and helpful. I get, by far, the best professional and personal care there. Plus they have the widest selection of interesting and fashionable frames.

Well organized business. Fast, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Excellent Quality service and frames to choose from. Reasonably price for the area. Research articles to read. This doctor does his research and seems to stay up to date with current issues including head injuries, Specifically does that affect the eyes and learning disabilities. Excellent experience.

Moved to a new neighborhood in Ashland and this was the closest optometrist (or maybe I couldn't see much further. Heh.)

Dr. Dukes was excellent. Very quick and professional, we talked about Los Angeles and architecture, about my girlfriend, about fun stuff....he got me through the exam by distracting me with interesting conversation. I like that because let's face it, optometrists are usually pretty boring. I was in and out in a half hour, which I appreciated...didn't have to sit around and wait and fuss.

Highly recommend.

I have been seeing Dr. Dukes for several years now. This review is the result of a visit with another optometrist in town that made me realize what a good optometrist Dr. Dukes is.

I had something in my eye from riding my bike. It had been irritating me for at least a week and I called to make an appointment. Dr. Dukes was booked up and I decided it couldn't wait so I made an appointment with another optometrist in town for that morning. This guy spent 20 minutes with me, found nothing, gave me an RX for some drops and charged me $240. I've never paid anywhere near that at Dr. Dukes

We've had only great experiences here. They took an immense amount of time over the course of a few months, for free, helping my 12 year old learn how to put in contacts, and were very good with her. We had been to a few different optometrists in Ashland (both my daughters wear glasses), and once we tried these guys out we new we had found people we could count on and stick with.

I have been to many, many optometrists over the years.. but wow, Dr. Duke and his staff are amazing!!! Hands down the best!!!

They fixed my horrendous Wal-Mart prescription and have been giving me the best care ever since. It's obvious that Dr. Duke is knowledgeable as well as thorough. His staff are the sweetest and go out of their way to be helpful. For example, I had a pair of plastic framed glasses from elsewhere, and his wife took the time to melt and fix them/reshape them so they fit comfortably. No more headaches!

They even let me know that my favourite Focus Softcolors lenses were

The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional. The exam seemed thorough. When I had a problem with my new glasses (that I purchased someplace else) Dr. Dukes checked them without charging me and wrote a note to the store where I bought the glasses, resulting in new lenses at no charge for me.

Dr. Dukes is a con artist. After 3 tries at finding lenses that worked, he told me it was my eyes and he was keeping my insurance money. That was when I noticed the marks on the most recent glasses that I had made on the first set showing where colors were splitting. After I pointed this out and requested my money back, he physically intimidated me and willingly gave only part of my payment back.
I've spoken with a number of other people in the area, ex employees and customers, and have heard this story told in many similar ways.

Had a great experience at this office. I'd been going to the guy at Costco, but never felt like I was getting a complete exam (that, and I didn't feel my prescription was right afterward). For only a few dollars more, Eric Duke did a very thorough job, was super friendly, and took time to explain things. I highly recommend him to anyone needing an eye exam. "I can see clearly now..."

Original review: Eric Duke and his staff turned an eye exam and lens fitting into an enjoyable experience. Everyone is upbeat, knowledgeable and helpful. There was no sales pressure or upsell, I got exactly what I needed and learned some things in the process. I felt like I had a family of care instead of a visit to a practitioner. If you need glasses or contacts, they do a great job at a reasonable price. I actually look forward to my next visit.

Updated review (Nov 2012) This morning, I had the exact opposite experience. (rant of a frustrated customer deleted)
