My photography roots trace back to high school, where I spent hours in the darkroom developing black and white film as the yearbook photographer. After high school, I studied engineering at North Carolina State University and have worked as a Professional Engineer in Virginia and New York.

I've never had this much fun and felt so relaxed taking headshots in my life! Always struggling with "on camera" nerves, I always looked tense on all my previous headshots. Charles made me laugh so much I felt I was in the studio with a friend. Beautiful quality head shots, so many good ones, that I for the first time had trouble picking out which one I liked best!

Charles was great to work with. He was responsive and proactive with scheduling, and was flexible with me so I could get the shots I wanted. I'm thrilled with the results! I can't write him a review without noting how great he was with my dog... she'll never look the right direction for a photo but he worked miracles.

Charles is fantastic. He's super easy to work with and I'm really happy with my headshots. The shoot was fun and interactive, and his retouching was minimal and natural. What I appreciated most was that he listened to what I was looking for, and also had a clear point of view on what would work best. I'd recommend him to anyone!

Charles photographed my dog just as the sun was rising overlooking the city skyline. He went out of his way to accommodate me and took amazing shots of my dog. He was also very helpful on the back end helping me pick out what sizes and layouts would look best based on the photo. If you are looking for someone professional but makes you feel comfortable, look no further than Charles. You will not be disappointed.

I found Charles via Yelp. From the start he was awesome, easy to work with and super professional. The shoot itself went off painlessly, and he took the time to make sure I was comfortable with the poses and with how the shots were looking. The final retouched photos I received were exactly what I was hoping for. A+ experience!

Charles is simply amazing! I've been in front of the camera many times in my career and no one has captured the right shots like Charles. His ability to bring any image to life is uncanny. Working with him throughout the shoot was fun, educational, and very pleasant. He brings a unique experience to a shoot that is like no other. We had Charles Aydlett photography come in and photograph corporate headshots for our private equity firm. We needed to get the headshots scheduled quickly as two of our partners from out of town would be in the office on short notice. Charles was flexible in accommodating our schedule and we couldn't be happier with the results. We had a certain style in mind for our headshots and Charles was able to pull it off while making us comfortable in front of the camera at the same time. Charles is awesome. He shot our dog, Bogie, in Prospect Park a few months ago and the pictures came out amazing! He captured Bogie's personality perfectly, and was a pleasure to work with. Prints shipped fast and are high quality - currently have two hanging in our apartment (yes, we love our dog). Would definitely recommend!

I was dog-sitting for my friend and I wanted to surprise her with portraits of her two dachshunds - accompanying Charles on the Central Park photo shoot was a great opportunity to see him in action, a total professional. And my friend LOVED the images - in fact, she's bought several more from the series as gifts for friends and family!

Charles shot my apartment after we did a bunch of renovations and redesigns, I couldn't be more happy! NYC apartment spaces are small, and have weird angles - that didn't deter him! He still got the shot. Even on a cloudy day, he got the lighting to look happy and inviting. So happy I have these images to share with family! (Fast turn around too!)

Charles is amazing at what he does. His knowledge of space and lighting is astounding and his keen eye for detail makes for a fabulous photograph. We were lucky enough to have him come to our B&B in panama to shoot our space for our website. The images he produced were nothing short of jaw dropping (check them out, it's called The Firefly) He captured the magic of our place that no one else has even come close to capturing. And his turn around was quick! We had files within a week ready to put on our site. If you are looking to show off a space, sell a house etc his photos will get it

Charles had limited time and working area to get my head shot done. We squeezed in the photo shoot at a wedding in the 15 minutes between having his own picture taken as a groomsman and the ceremony. Even with the working restraints the photos turned out great and I was able to find 2 keepers from the 15 minute session. I would highly recommend Charles Aydlett Photography for any of your head shot or photography needs.

We asked Charles if he would take our first family photos, and we couldn't be happier with the results! We were all put at ease from the start, and Charles captured the spirit of our new baby girl. I work at an interior design firm, and we shoot a TON of apartments and office spaces, -- all with varying degrees of tricky lighting, angles, and (this being NYC), oddly-shaped spaces.
Charles maximized the potential of each space and was meticulously detailed throughout - photographing small details and vignettes we may have missed. Truly, a real talent and an absolute pleasure to work with.

I don't know how he did such an incredible job. I asked Charles to do what only a true photographer would/could do: hide in the bushes of Central Park and wait for me to arrive with my girlfriend, and snap BEAUTIFUL pictures of the moment that I asked her to marry me, with her none the wiser that the photos were being taken. The pictures came out incredibly, and he was very professional throughout, even prior when we sat down to plan out when and where the proposal would take place. My fiance loved the photos, and she's picky about herself being photographed!
