This means you're more than a customer, you're an owner. We exist to serve our members, not to make a profit. Unlike most other financial institutions, credit unions do not issue stock or pay dividends to outside stockholders.
Instead, earnings are returned to our members in the form of lower loan rates, higher interest on deposits and lower fees. Israel Methcomm Federal Credit Union is a predominately African American church based, member-owned, not for-profit financial cooperative. It is led by a volunteer Board of Directors who are elected by and from the membership. Many of the members were previously unserved or underserved by financial institutions.
