Hal's is family owned and run with courtesy and professionalism. Hal helped me when I was afraid I couldn't afford to get my car repaired. He found the problem and had it fixed while I waited. He worked with me on service fee. I couldn't have done it without him.

Great honest local shop!
Looking for a tire replacement here in Oceanside should have been a stressful task, but Hal' s made it EASY. Hunter found my tire type, and gave me the out the door price over the phone. He was very professional and helpful, polite. He also communicated with me about the arrival of the tire and scheduled my car coming in, I havent had a mechanuc shop call me first, thats rare. My car was done in the promised time, and Hal himself called me to let me know about an issue my wheeel had and got the small extra labor approved before performing it, and thats another rare experience

In early May 2021, I brought a 2004 Chevy Silverado (4.8- 141K) in for "complete" servicing. I told Hunter, Hal & Alberto-the mechanic, I was doing a two month, 7k+ cross country camping trip and needed all to work. Cost was not an issue.
In hindsight, and first off, they never generated a Carfax. This was a significant transgression bc w/o that history of prior service they had no idea of the truck's condition. even though the transmission oil was over due and it needed a complete brake job to include a hub that was blown out, two heater hoses were leaking. Second, the final invoice has NO information

Brought our MB E 320 to Hal after the dealership was really struggling to solve a "battery drain" problem. Hal and his staff diagnosed the problem, verified the problem, and recommended a solution within 48 hours. They followed through to obtain the necessary repair part (although it required a lot of time and effort to find and obtain the part) and make the repair. Based on our experience, we can say that Hal and his staff have an honest, no-nonsense approach to car repairs. They do what they said they would do; no up-selling. Absolutely sure the repair would have cost at least double or triple
