Established in 1951, the Wisconsin Health Care Association & Wisconsin Center for Assisted Living (WHCA/WICAL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to representing, protecting and advancing the interests of Wisconsin's long-term care provider community and the residents they serve.

WHCA/WiCAL is Wisconsin's most representative association of post-acute care facilities, including skilled nursing facilities, therapy centers, and assisted living facilities, as it does not restrict membership to any particular segment of the provider community.
Rick Abrams is the President & CEO of WHCA/WiCAL. With more than 15 years working in the long-term care profession, Rick brings a wealth of health care experience, including prior work at the New Jersey AHCA/NCAL Affiliate, and as COO at AHCA/NCAL. More recently, Rick has worked with the American Medical Association and the Wisconsin Medical Society.
One of the principal ways in which the goals of WHCA/WiCAL are accomplished is through active member participation in our WHCA Board of Directors, WiCAL Council, and in our committees that address many of the challenges facing the profession. District 6 - Calumet, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Ozaukee, Sheboygan, Washington and Winnebago Counties.

Preventing burnout and turnover starts by supporting staff with the right tools for the job. WHCA/WiCAL has partnered with mental health service provider and WHCA/WiCAL Prime Business Partner, Behavioral Care Solutions, to give our members ready-to-share webinars to support staff's skill with and understanding of mental health issues in older/disabled adults.
