Services
In 1978, Dr. Rick Bunger established Family Eyecare Center in Grand Island. The practice has been widely regarded as a leader in optometry in central Nebraska ever since. The clinic has grown into a very successful independent optometric practice. This success has occurred by word-of-mouth referrals and is largely the result of a constant drive for excellence in patient service and satisfaction.
At Family Eyecare Center, our staff is friendly and professional. Our commitment is to provide exceptional customer service to all of our Grand Island patients. We take pride in our personalized care and strive to spend the necessary time with each patient to ensure a comfortable experience. Our Grand Island optometry professionals are passionate about providing high-quality care to our family of patients.
The first part of the examination is the pre-testing portion. This part of the examination will include asking mom, dad, or caregiver questions about the physical and ocular health of the child. We will also perform a few tests that will give the doctor vital information to review that will help them to determine how healthy the eyes are.
The first part of the eye examinations is pre-testing. In this part of the exam, the technicians will ask you questions about your health, your family medical history, and your specific eye health. They will also perform a few tests to get vital information for the doctor to review. This will likely include a photo of your retina.
At Family Eyecare Center, our doctors are highly trained to treat most types of eye disease. We have the latest in technology, including the state of the art Cirrus OCT, visual field testing including the Humphrey Matrix, digital retinal photography, Optomap retinal imaging, and fully automated exam rooms and acuity charts.

Dr Hudnall and his staff do an excellant job with the thorough eye exam and explaining things. I would not trust my eyes to anyone else as we have been coming back for over 20 yrs. I was however shocked at the price of the glasses and the price of the coating on the lens. I paid $1200 for 2 pair. This is pretty outrageous even with Unity plan. I am retired so with a fixed income this will not work again. I no doubt will be forced to go elsewhere for my glasses

Never underestimate the value of quality! I have been going to a discount optometrist for years! With the advice of my wife, I came here to get a quality pair of glasses!
First of all, I have never been through such a thorough examination! They caught a problem that if left untreated, I would likely loose my vision.I am beyond grateful for them!
Also, they were all very professional without being stuffy!
This is where I will go for my Eye-care from now on!

Very friendly, helpful, answered all my questions. Helpful friendly service picking out new frames and lenses. They no longer carried my frames I had very much like the look and style and color of current frames helped me find a pair very similar in the same style and color as my frames now. Very very satisfied with my experience

We went here for the first time because this clinic was listed by our insurance plan as a provider. $1,400 later my husband, who had recently suffered a stroke, was talked into 2 pairs of outrageously overpriced eyeglasses. Had there been 2 chairs by the viewing table I'd have put a stop to it. Insurance covered $600. We had to pay $800. I was horrified. Never in my life have I heard of 2 pairs plus an exam costing so much! I'm curious as to why there are no other negative reviews on here. I do NOT recommend this place unless you have money to burn.

I googled eye doctors in Grand Island. The Eye Care Center's information stood out in my eyes! I read about each doctor, their services and what type of person they are in the community. I was interested in Dr. Hudnall first because he was from Grand Island and after his schooling he came back "home". I also liked that he went to Disneys Customer Service training. I maybe was a bit jealous of that Disney training as that was something I dreamed about doing and didn't. I was not disappointed with the service. I called in a panic, scared to death of what was going on with my eyes
