The Abbott Law Firm
David Abbott is an experienced Criminal Defense Attorney. He has practiced in McDonough since 2007 and has an office across the street from the Henry County courthouse. He handles all types of criminal cases, including DUIs, shoplifting charges and felonies. The criminal justice system can be needlessly cruel.

David works to tame it. In every case, his basic goal is the same: protecting his client's human potential. David's tactics are flexible. If an officer broke the law or was sloppy, he's not afraid to embarrass that officer. If negotiation locks in a good deal, all the better. When a victim lies, David will impeach her.
Services
As one of Henry County's highest achieving firms, the Abbott Law Firm serves the community with a comprehensive scope of practice areas in criminal defense cases. Our firm is dedicated to serving the needs of clients in Henry County and McDonough with shoplifting defense, as well as representation for DUI and felony cases.
License suspension is an automatic consequence of a DUI conviction which the judge cannot waive. The only way to avoid license suspension is to beat your DUI charge. This can be made easier with help from David Abbott, an experienced McDonough DUI attorney.

For those over 21, a first DUI conviction in 10 years results in a license suspension of one year, but restoration can occur after 120 days if the defendant attends DUI school, has a drug or alcohol evaluation, and pays a $200 restoration fee.A second DUI conviction in 10 years carries a five year suspension and restoration cannot occur for 18 months.
DUI is one of the most serious misdemeanor offenses in Georgia. Like other misdemeanors, a first or second DUI conviction is punishable by up to 12 months in jail and a $1,000 fine. David Abbot, McDonough DUI Lawyer, understands that these penalties and charges are stressful, and he will defend you in court to avoid a conviction.
In McDonough, license suspension is a mandatory consequence of any DUI conviction. The only way to avoid a license suspension is to avoid a DUI conviction. You'll have a higher chance of avoiding a DUI and repeat offender felony charges with McDonough's Abbott Law Firm. The length of a suspension depends upon how many DUI convictions a defendant has had in the past five years.
A single DUI arrest can trigger two different cases. If you do not act within 10 business days of arrest, you will probably lose your driver's license. Decades ago, drivers could make it easier to beat a DUI by refusing to take a breath test. Georgia has developed elaborate procedures to punish drivers who refuse to take the test.

Earlier this year I was fighting some pretty trumped up charges due to a traffic stop by Henry Co. Police during the height of the pandemic. David was able to get my charges reduced through negotiations with the solicitor which. most definitely helped me to avoid jail time. I had not expected a routine traffic stop to become so serious. David helped me to understand certain technicalities of my case that helped change the outcome. I'm very pleased and I truly appreciate his services.
