The main goal of acupuncture is to promote self-healing, encouraging the body to overcome pain or illness. There are channels that run along the body, like an energetic map. Acupuncture needles are used to stimulate certain points. In Western Medicine's attempt to explain how acupuncture works, some believe messages are sent along the central nervous system or fascia.

The mechanism may be a bit of a mystery, but we do know acupuncture promotes blood flow, releases the body's natural pain killers, relaxes muscles, and wakes up the parasympathetic nervous system to reduce stress. In very broad terms acupuncture relieves pain, reduces inflammation, and restores homeostasis.

Amy helped me with both a recent injury and an older injury that is still in recovery. One tender and easy to aggravate, the other swollen from use. Both felt marked improvement following my session with her. She listened closely to my needs and developed a customized treatment session for my goals. Thank you Amy!

Amy is professional, knows her work, and is communicative. My education and coaching jobs are demanding and Amy does an excellent job focusing on the areas in my body related to stress. The sessions are very pleasant and relaxing and I always leave her office feeling completely blissed out with zero stress! I highly recommend Amy Lapes and Acupuncture and Wellness.

After having my second child in two years at he age of nearly 40 (or Level 4, as I like to call it!), my body was craving attention. Having seen a number of acupuncturist over the years, it seemed fitting and necessary.
After over 10 appointments now, I can safely say that Amy Lapes is one of the best in the business from my experiences. She has addressed symptoms of problems that are not curable right now (such as sleep deprivation and poor posture from nursing a 21 pound 7 month old) with success, despite the fact that they are par for the course at present.
Amy has also treated issues which

I've been going to Amy for several months now for treatment of back issues. She is very thorough and professional in her treatments and takes the time to discuss other health issues which are related to or a result of the back issues. I am very grateful for her services and recommend her highly.
