Great view of the ocean. Nice staff. Cleaning is not automatic. You have to tell them you want the room cleaned. This might be due to the pandemic and staffing. Then, when we did ask for the room to be cleaned, they didn't show up, so there's that.
Half the outlets worked. Lighting isn't the best in the unit (when the bulbs were present).
There is an indoor pool which is nice. The oceanfront view in every room is awesome. Easy access to the beach. Plenty of parking.

Off season on the beach, how can you go wrong. Make sure you look at the bed sizes before booking. Two full sized adults and two teenage children (m/f) didn't really fit.

When making a reservation the manager was helpful and quite attentive, as were the desk people when checking in. The room had a spectacular ocean view, but the refrigerator was a mini and no oven. They used Covid-19 as reason not to service our room. We had to request everything. We did ask for a few items and they were responsive. However, when asking to have the beach sand swept and clean sinks, it was ignored. Overall good experience.

The wedding sales director Meredith is not organized, takes too long to get back to you, and leaves her staff hanging to figure out a wedding on there own. The wedding was missing stuff, they put too many tables in, they never cleaned our room for wedding night and charged us when they said they wouldn't. The rooms are also gross. If I could give it 0 I would.

The stay was amazing. The room was clean. The staff was helpful and friendly, The facilities and amenities were well kept and well supplied. The view is spectacular. The area, although near restaurants and shopping, felt remote and secluded.
Beach was not crowded nor littered.
I will most definitely return and I advise you to check it out for yourself.

The water smelled like sulfur and the bed was very uncomfortable, neither my husband or I were able to get a decent nights sleep. If we were not there for a work event we would have left.

Rooms are decent...if not a little shabby for the price. The front desk gave me 2 sets of cards, neither worked. Instead of just giving me a different room me and my partner had to wait on maintenance to come let us into the room and give us cards that work. Not how I wanted to spend my first 45 min of the resort stay. Definitely did not feel like a priority of the resort even though I didn't see any other guests.

Shell Island Resort was wonderful! All suites face the ocean and have little balconies. We were on the top floor. 9th.
Outstanding view, very clean, has everything you need in the kitchenette. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Really loved everything! We will be back.

This resort is located on the water with a great view of the beach. It is about a ten minute drive to several restaurants in the area. However the resort is old. The particular room that I stayed in did have updated flooring in the sitting area. I am assuming that they painted portions of the room at some point since there was a can of paint in the closet.

The water in the shower did not drain properly, there were dead bugs on the floor near the windows in the sitting area and there was a large amount of dust on the window blinds.

During my visit I found out that each room has different owners

A beautiful location. Nice inside pool. Easy access to the beach. The front desk customer service were always nice and helpful. My only complaint was the jacuzzi was very small and didn't work. There is a step to get up to the jacuzzi. I didn't have my glasses on and there is no sign to warn you of a step. I tripped and landed hard enough on the concrete to bruise a knee, and scrape my palms. I was fine, and no big deal. I did go in later to let the agent at the desk know that it happened and they may want to put up a sign. He did ask if I was ok, but as soon as I told him I was hurt

I will give 2 stars for the fact that we had the best view in the building room #901 and staff was kind. The cleaning was poor with dust on many items and the base of sink and toilet being dirty/gross, low water pressure, water smelled like sulfur, hot tub was not hot and miniature in size, one of the elevators was out of service for half a day (not that big of a deal), snack shop/gift shop might as well just been a vending machine, water was dripping on me at the front desk, another customer said their friends room had water leaking down the walls. The positives were a great TV, good pillows and

Stayed a week. There was a mask mandate in place. The only staff we saw consistently wearing masks were front desk staff, other Staff were 50% max. There was a sign posted in lobby about masks for less than 4 hours one day...it was gone & never reappeared the whole week. Our room was superficially cleaned. Behind the nightstand and under the edge of the bed platform we found: empty Pringles chips can, empty juice boxes, empty candy bar wrappers, empty medication packets & more. The room we were in was so poorly lit that it required I go buy higher wattage bulbs for my poor husband with

Had a wonderful time at Shell Island! We came for a wedding and it was just beautiful. The restaurant staff were all amazing. They have limited hours which is to be understood during these hard times. Patricia at the pool bar was so friendly, and what a great laugh! The manager Branden was so nice and attentive. He went out of his way to show my elderly father some great recommendations around Wilmington. We were very thankful for the great staff.

I stopped counting hairs in the room after I found around 13 of them (one of every color and size mostly in the shower, towels, and sheets). I asked for cleaning supplies for the room and the staff said it was a liability (?) so I went to CVS and disinfected the room myself, I won't say how many black paper towels I had at the end.

It's a shame because the location is so nice and the staff does actually seem to try but you can tell they get hammered with cleanliness and maintenance issues constantly.

We love this hotel. All the rooms are ocean front and cozy. Some are a little more upgraded than others but I've never been in a bad one. I also like that they have 2 bathrooms (1 shower) in them. They're always clean and come with dishes to help make cooking and eating in the room easier. The beach is never over crowded down here. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. We've eaten at the restaurant for breakfast a few times and it was good too.

This is a great little place for when you do not need much space and want to be ocean front. All of the rooms are ocean front. We had a walkout this time and we really enjoyed not having to go through the building in order to go to the beach. It was quite even though we were there during peak season. The kitchenette is just the right size for a light breakfast and lunch but I would not plan to cook a meal there, that is why there are so many good restaurants nearby! We needed extra sheets and towels, the front staff was quick to fill our needs.

This place is at a nice quiet location. You get a beach view from every room. I can't give above 2 star for these reasons.
Rooms need to be updated. The resort was not clean and starting to look a little run down. We stayed here in the past and have not been in a few years and was taken how things have changed. The linens were old. Blankets were very worn.
The sofa beds that our families used in all three units were very worn out. The units were not clean. The water pressure was not good. The water had a bad smell. Two of the three units had a musty smell. When you are paying over 300 a

So this is an update to my review. Unfortunately I can't recommend this place if you are hosting a wedding there. Although the venue was lovely and rooms very nice, after the wedding the staff stole all of the leftover food and my nieces flowers! They left the cake they cut but all of the other food was taken home by the employee without permission. I don't know where the event coordinator was but she should have at least ASKED if they wanted any leftovers and the flowers. If fact the bride and groom had planned to eat the leftovers for the few days they were staying post wedding. And

Booked to stay well in advance for a king suite. The room looks like it hadn't been touched. The kitchen table had water damage, the bottoms of the chairs were busted out and we had a water leak come onto our clothes from the closet. After the clothes in the closet were soaked the manager moved us to another room and compensated for a night. The water stunk of sulfur in the new room. The beach is awesome and the downstairs lobby area. Units are individually owned and the association evidently doesn't check units overall to make sure other units are up to par. Will stay elsewhere.

Let me start by saying.....We used to enjoy going to this resort but this stay was HORRIBLE.
First, we got very little sleep because the people above us were walking around til after midnight and then woke us up running at 6:30. YES. Running. I called the front desk to complain and found out 4 girls were in this room. So I'm guessing 4 young children running and playing til late and then up at crack of dawn. Good Times.
Second, we had coffee and coffee pot in the room but it was loose coffee in the bag and no filters. So basically, useless.
Third, breakfast was a small fortune for fake

Literally checked in and checked right back out . There was a sign in the room (307) that it was individually owned so be aware the reviews are on specific units. BUT..... as a whole this "resort" is VERY outdated and grimy..... It is comparable to a motel 6 AT BEST.
The view was amazing, but the room and furniture were dirty and dingy . Could not get comfortable---- so we left within 15 mins. Our room smelled like someone had smoked a cigarette and put it out somewhere in the room to relight and smoke again later. It was disgusting.
The room also has a sewage smell on top of the stale

Love the location and the beach but cleanliness was lacking as were Covid precautions. Out of the ~10 staff members we encountered, not a single one Including housekeeping staff were wearing a mask. One gentleman in the parking lot at check-in had a mask but it was down around his neck and worthless. My husband and I wore our masks whenever in the elevator and to/from the beach as did our 4-year old and maybe half the guests. So glad we brought cleaning supplies and wiped our room down with bleach before we unpacked.

Long story short--be prepared to protect yourself and your family; easy to

We have stayed here for several years and love the resort.

HOWEVER! The place has constantly been declining and no upkeep has been done. Things are getting rusty and worn. The elevator has been broken for weeks. Why is it not fixed yet!!

My main concern is that staff works very hard but are not being given corporate support. They are understaffed and under supplied. (And no, I am not an employee complaining) I would be happy to provide my personal info.

My main question is, if you are under staffed, why are you selling out all rooms?? You can't even provide a full menu or have the kitchen

We attended a Conference for several days (2-27-20 through 2-29-20).
ROOMS: Our room was perfect. We had an amazing view of the ocean. The small balcony was perfect for just two people wanting to relax together. The bathroom separation was nice (there are 2 bathrooms - one adjacent to the bedroom and one adjacent to the hallway). The kitchen/living area is spacious and doable for a long-term stay. Our bedroom had two beds that were comfortable and fresh.
NOISE: I can tell that this place would be really noisy in the summer. It is a great place to host a Conference in the off season but it would

The rooms at this hotel are all suites so the rooms are wonderful and spacious. The location is unbeatable as it's right on the beach. It's also on a lower traffic side of the beach as it's down at the end. Visit the beach mailbox that is located at access 1 and leave a sweet note for a beach goers. The restaurant here is alright-definitely room for improvement with the food quality. The pool also has some maintenance issues and can use some general improvement of aesthetics.

I wouldn't call this a resort.. More like an INN. Views are great but the amenities, customer services And cleaning of the room are very lacking.

Before arriving, I have fell down a set of stairs. And tried my best to locate the vending machine to ice my ankle.. I walked the whole 7 floors but couldn't find it. I finally gave up.. called the front desk.5$26 stated that it's on every EVEN floor.. so I asked if they can bring me a bucket of ice. I'll pay and tip. Since I can't bare to walk anymore. They said yes.. but never show nor call.

Water system is in serious trouble
