Vaughan Roofing & Sheet Metal was established in 1945 by Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Vaughan, Sr., as a matter of necessity. Mr. Vaughan contributed to the World War II war effort by assembling Catalina Patrol Bombers at the Consolidated Aircraft factory on the New Orleans Lakefront. Mr. and Mrs. Vaughan began providing roofing services in the New Orleans area as a way to keep their young family fed.
R. S. Vaughan, Jr., was just five (5) years old at this point when a move was planned 60 miles west to Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge provided the perfect environment for the growth of Vaughan Roofing & Sheet Metal with its many commercial and industrial facilities along the Mississippi River.
