I have practiced orthodontics in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex for more than 34 years, and would not trade my profession for any other. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that regular orthodontic checkups for children begin before the age of 7. There are several reasons for this early evaluation that we have outlined below. The back teeth bite is established when the permanent 6 year molars arrive. At that time, the orthodontist can thoroughly evaluate the dental relationship of the molars.
Traditional braces are comprised of brackets that are affixed to teeth and wires that are threaded through slots in the brackets. Some patients may also have metal bands encircling back teeth. Wires are held to brackets by tiny rubber bands called "ligatures" or "o-rings." Brackets are generally made of stainless steel.
The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends an orthodontic screening for children by the age of 7 years. At age 7 the teeth and jaws are developed enough so that the dentist or orthodontist can see if there will be any serious bite problems in the future. Most of the time treatment is not necessary at age 7, but it gives the parents and dentist time to watch the development of the patient and decide on the best mode of treatment.

My daughter sees Dr. McKelvain and we couldn't be happier with him and his staff. Although the current pandemic has slowed our appointments down, they take every precaution to keep everyone safe. Personally, I haven't had orthodontic work done, but the staff have made everything painless as far as setting up appointments to answering all of our questions, taking the time to explain everything. 10/10 would reccomend!

We absolutely love Dr. Mac!! I seriously have to drag our daughter out of the building when it’s time to go...so that should really tell you something and I haven’t even mentioned her teeth! They are… beautiful already and we are only six months into her treatment plan. He’s a wonderful orthodontist, has a wonderful staff, and he’s creating a wonderful smile!! ❤️😁

Dr. Mc has been my orthodontist for over 2 years now. I probably had the most messed up teeth an orthodontist have seen. I consulted with 3 other orthodontists and none of them accepted me because they didn’t think they could help me. However, Dr Mc welcomed me assuring me that they’ll get me fixed up. I have a few months left and I never would’ve thought my teeth could ever look like this. Amazing place with amazing service!

We are do happy with Dr. Mac. He is friendly and so funny! My daughter loves him. Having an orthodontist your kid likes helps so much with a something like braces. I recommend him to everyone. They explain every in detail and never have a problem fitting us in with emergencies or having to reschedule and appointment. I highly recommend.
