Traditional Chinese Medicine incorporates the use of several different treatment modalities, the primary and most popular form of which is acupuncture. While more and more people in the West have received and benefitted from acupuncture in recent years, it is still a treatment option that is unfamiliar to many people - they may have heard of it but often don't really know what it's all about or appreciate its effectiveness.
Acupuncture Wellness Center opened in November of 2008. Our services have been very well-received by the Baton Rouge community; in fact, most of our new patients have been referred by someone who has benefitted from treatment at our clinic. My name is Stewart Sommers, and I am the owner and the primary practitioner at Acupuncture Wellness Center.
My interest in this field began several years ago after learning that acupuncture was sometimes used in China as the only form of anesthesia for certain surgical procedures - more so in the past but still today in some cases. My mom, an anesthesiologist, was attending a medical conference during which she saw video footage of a surgical procedure being performed using acupuncture anesthesia.
Dr. Baisong Zhong grew up in the Sichuan Provence of China. He received his medical degree from Luzhou Medical College and a Masters as well as a PhD in Internal Medicine from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. While there he specialized in the treatment of immune disorders using Chinese Medicine.
Call and set up an appointment today. We have a limited number of appointments available any given day and we spend ample time with each patient coming in for treatment. We do our best to run on time; rarely will you have to wait any longer than five minutes once you arrive, if you have to wait at all.

I have used acupuncture occasionally over the years to solve different problems. It was a relief to find this competent location here in Baton Rouge. I saw them for some nagging back pain and worked to illuminate that problem. This is a very comfortable caring location for acupuncture. I was surprised that they seem to use more points than I was used to at other places but glad for the additional homeopathic stimulation that was happening to let my body heal itself. This is certainly a great alternative to Western medicine and taking a pill to hope some thing goes away by the time the pill wears

I’ve been going to Acupuncture Wellness for 5+ years now for chronic migraines and vestibular migraines. Marshall is so very friendly and always always a pleasure. I’m always so happy to see her! Stewart is great at what he does! Always polite, converses with me and is super friendly. Not to mention my migraines have decreased significantly. I go now for regular routine maintenance, if you will. Also, If I’m ever having any other pain issues or have a cold, he treats that too! I won’t stop seeing him bc he’s given me the most relief out of everything I’ve tried in the past 20+ years

I went in expecting it to not work. Heres my story. Ive had pain in my back for the last 10 years. It was getting worse. I lived with daily doses of Robaxin, Naproxen, and Ibuprofen. I work in a demanding job where I cant really take stonger meds but after a while the over the counter stuff was destroying my stomach. Every Dr. Wanted to do surgery. I was referred by my internal medicine doctor for intense jaw pain, which didn’t subside after a month of muscle relaxers. The place is so relaxing I wanted to stay all day. They make the process very easy and relaxing. I have several chronic conditions. Stewart inserted needles in several places throughout my body and I relaxed on the table for 30 min and all most fell asleep. I felt amazing, like I had the best massage of my life or had a sedative. I made a return appointment and definitely am looking forward to my next visit.

Amazing relief! 2 back surgeries has left me with aches, pains and limitations. I'm new to acupuncture but I've tried everything else and after Stewart Sommers administered several treatments I feel so much better! No pain! Treatments are very relaxing. I will be the first to admit that I did not have high expectations when I decided to try acupuncture. I was in a car accident with an 18 wheeler in 2017 and had tried just about everything to ease some hip and back pain. By 2019 I had been in physical therapy twice, seen numerous doctors. I used to rely on going to chiropractor to fix my back problems but one day I was told about Stewart and that I need to give Accupunture a try. Stewart listens to you about what is going on in your body. Accupunture Wellness Center has a relaxing atmosphere and an amazing staff. I was amazed by how I felt after the Accupunture session. Love this place! I've been visiting this location for several years and would highly recommend it. The staff is warm, friendly and efficient; they take the time to listen to my needs to ensure they address any concerns; and they always make sure I'm comfortable during the therapy session. For the last couple years, I have had deep tissue massage every two to three weeks to relieve chronic pain in my shoulders and neck from an old car accident injury.
