At the center of our Mercyhealth Hospice team are the patient and the patient's family and loved ones. The patient's needs, desires, and comfort are central to all aspects of care. Every member of the Mercyhealth Hospice team knows the special concerns of those facing a life-limiting illness and respects the patient's wishes in all aspects of care.
Our Medical Director collaborates with other members of the hospice team and the patient's primary doctor to help manage the patient's discomfort and symptoms. The patient's doctor remains an integral part of the patient's care team, providing ongoing medical care and support.

Services
When you are confronted with the difficult issues of an illness, injury, or even aging, you almost always want to deal with those challenges in the comfort of your own home. Mercyhealth at Home Home Health nurses and therapists bring skilled and compassionate health care services to you, wherever you call home.
A hospital discharge planner, a social worker, doctor, or nurse can help you with referrals. Intermittent home health services are prescribed by your doctor. Additionally, you or a family member can ask for an evaluation for home health care eligibility. Medicare, medical insurance, private insurance, grants, and private pay cover home health services.
The ancient art of massage is a wonderful, noninvasive therapeutic treatment offered to all hospice patients. Many patients report an increased sense of well being and serenity, along with decreased pain and comfort. Our trained staff uses gentle pressure on the hands or feet, along with mild lotions, soft music and low lighting to relax the patient.
Our newest service complements Mercyhealth Hospice's circle of care that surrounds our patients and their families. We welcome musicians who are willing to volunteer their talents with our hospice patients in their homes or at our Celebration of Life events. We also welcome monetary donations to purchase audio and music CDs for our Music for the Heart library.
For many people in hospice, pets offer unconditional love, acceptance, comfort, and companionship when it's needed most-the times when friends and family aren't seen as frequently or when words are too hard to say. Pet Peace of Mind (PPOM) is a national program. Mercyhealth Hospice's PPOM program provides helping hands and financial assistance so that caring Mercyhealth at Home volunteers can help terminally ill patients with pet care needs.
