Ecosphere Environmental Services-founded in 1982 in Farmington, New Mexico-is a full-service environmental consulting firm with extensive experience across the western United States. Ecosphere specializes in environmental compliance and permitting, natural resources consulting, public outreach and participation, and environmental planning and monitoring.

The foundation of Ecosphere's practice is in federal, state, and local environmental regulatory permitting and compliance. Ecosphere staff have the expertise and permits to conduct special status species surveys throughout the western United States.

Ecosphere has prepared hundreds of NEPA documents, including EAs, EISs, CEs, and supporting studies as a "third-party preparer" on behalf of federal resource management agencies and as a contractor to the project proponent.Our NEPA experience includes oil and gas, mining, railroad, transmission and utility line, highway and road, and fiber optics communication projects.
Ecosphere has provided Clean Water Act (CWA) permitting services to clients in the western U.S. for more than two decades.

These services include wetland delineations, Section 404 applications (individual, regional, and nationwide), Section 401 Water Quality Assurance Certifications, wetland design and construction, wetland reclamation services, and NPDES permitting- including the preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) for construction and industrial facilities.
Since the early 1980s, Ecosphere biologists have conducted several thousand TES surveys/studies for clients throughout the Southwest. Ecosphere has successfully completed more than 11 Recovery Plans and 17 Status Reports for threatened or endangered plants in Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico.

Additionally, Ecosphere has developed TES Sensitive Plant Field Guides for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) New Mexico Field Offices in Farmington, Albuquerque, Las Cruces, and Roswell, and for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico.Mexican spotted owl (Strix occidentalis lucida) surveys in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and Colorado.
