Nick's passion for cooking started at a young age, when one of his favorite activities was helping his aunt in the kitchen. While attending Tippecanoe High School, he was a Top 20 finalist in the Johnson & Wales University National High School Recipe Contest for a bronzed swordfish with a tropical fruit black bean salsa.
Nick's love of cooking spurred him towards a Culinary Arts degree from Sinclair Community College and continuing education classes at the Culinary Institute of America. He enjoys traveling to new places to experience new cuisine that influences the menu at the Cafe. Nick joined the staff of Coldwater in 1998, as Executive Chef.

Services
This legendary French favorite is served in a pie slice with fresh fruit. We use only the freshest cream, wholesome all-natural Swiss cheese, and homemade pie crust. A cafe specialty and customer favorite! Our Faroe Island Salmon has always received rave reviews from our guests. We may alter the preperation to incorporate fresh seasonal sides and sauces, but the amazing taste remains the same.
The Coldwater Cafe is a restaurant housed in former bank building in the heart of downtown Tipp City. The restaurant offers quality dining in a small-town setting. The decor is warm and welcoming and is a delight for the senses. The fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere while the full bar allows patrons a relaxing stop while awaiting a fabulous meal.
The Upper Plate is located on our second floor, with large windows overlooking Tipp City's historic downtown. The Upper Plate is ideal for business functions, baby or bridal showers, rehearsal dinners, as well as holiday parties. For your business needs, we provide wireless internet and a projection screen in this space.

We called for a reservation on Christmas Eve day three weeks ago and asked for a booth. When we arrived, on time, for our reservation, we were seated in a space by the drink station/ and dishes. We walked by multiple open booths and tables. When we asked about moving our seats, the hostess just walked away.

Came here for a holiday dinner and was absolutely blown away. Every single dish was carefully considered, perfectly balanced, and yet somehow just the slightest bit surprising. I haven't had such a pleasant high-end meal in a while. And, we got to eat in the vault!
I almost--almost!--hesitate to say what I had because I'm nearly positive everything at Coldwater Café is probably quite good. But here we go...
Appetizers:
- Mussels were super tender and served in a flavorful creamy but not heavy sauce. I only got a few as they circled the table but I could have eaten that bowl as my entree

Another great night at Coldwater. John at the bar started us with a fantastic cocktail along with the fried brie (delicious). We sat outside. Brandon was our server. He was attentive and didn't miss a beat with all of his tables. We hope he is our server next time. Chef did an awesome job as always. Food was outstanding.

Finding the Coldwater Café was a happy accident. My wife and I had entered our car in the Trans Am Nationals car show in Downtown Tipp City (our '68 took 2nd-in-class!), and we were looking for a break from the sun after a hour of looking at cars when we spotted Coldwater's inviting outdoor seating. They have converted an adjacent alleyway into a fresh air dining area with some large sun shades, and without knowing what the menu looked like we were just hoping for something light and a cool drink out of the sun. We were disappointed to hear that the patio was all booked up, but they

Rob took me to the airport so I may go back home to Ohio to see family and my Aunt took me to this place to eat at that her and her friends ate at, just two days earluer. She was so excited and I was like, ho hum. Ya know, its just dinner. I honestly dont know or cant find the right words ...I'm not sure which, but absolutely NOTHING on that menu is bad. The place was amazing, the people were informative, and the chief is sent from God. I've been back home now for over a week and STILL, I cant think of a time in my life where I have had food that was so full of flavor!! Ever!! Even food I dont

A divine experience that consistently out performs itself. The whole meal was well paced with no pressure to move to the next course or place an order. Our waiter had multiple tables and even a very large party and he never left us wanting or feeling second fiddle. We started by ordering an Old Fashioned and a Gin Gimlet. Both drinks were prepared impeccably and I can easily say were the best made drinks we have had from a restaurant in many years. We followed that with the lobster crab cake appetizer which were amazingly delicious and flavorful with a nice crisp on the outside and bursting

Hands down, one of the best restaurants in ALL of the Dayton area. Do not let these "Dayton's Best Restaurant" lists all over the internet sway you from checking out Coldwater Cafe. They have an incredible restaurant, all from the decor to the staff and everything in between. The chef is a GENIUS in the kitchen. The food is incredible every single time. They have the biggest dessert list I've ever seen. 5/5 Stars. This is a MUST if you are wanting a magnificent dinner, just make sure to make a reservation. It is a very popular spot.

This spot is a favorite of mine when visiting Main Street in Tipp City. We had a party of six and our server was very good. She was very polite, spoke very loud for our older few, and had good recommendations.
The fresh bread at the beginning was amazing. Sea salt and rosemary on top of warm bread with fresh real butter. Yumm
I ordered the lobster bisque for a starter, which had kind of an interesting (but delicious) citrusy flavor to it. But not overpowering. It had chunks of lobster in it.
I then ordered from their brand new menu the fried green tomatoes grilled cheese sandwich that had bacon

First I have to say I love the severs here. I have been coming at least once a week for a while now, we love the food here. However tonight I got a phone call from them about 20 min before my reservation and was told that my doctors note which excludes me from wearing a mask was no longer recognized there. I explained how my note was on file with the county health department. They told me if I don't wear a mask I cannot eat there. As I had friends coming I went tonight but sadly told our favorite servers that we won't be back. The fact that they called me and told me I was not welcome

We have been to cold water on numerous occasions and have never once been disappointed. It's located in Tipp City on the strip. We often come here to shop and stop in to Coldwater to have lunch. The atmosphere is relaxing and calm. They have an awesome Bank teller you can sit in inside and a cozy fireplace. They also have a nice patio area. They chef is awesome and the food never disappoints. You may think some of the ingredients sound odd, but the flavors all together taste awesome. You can tell everything is fresh and made with quality. Lunch pricing is great. Dinner is on the expensive

The food here is good, but the atmosphere is what makes it really special. The menu had a nice selection of items. I enjoyed their hamburger and the fries were awesome! The carrot cake was a great way to end the meal.
The service was excellent, and there wasn't a long wait for our food to be served. There is usually street parking available.

My wife and I met her brothers and their wives for dinner her wife's birthday was coming up and she didn't know they were going to join us. The service although very busy was very very professional -

I had a special cake ordered that very few people anywhere in this part of the country but know how to make because it's a Indonesian cake. It was done to perfection by a lady named Kate I can't say enough kind things about the

I used to live up in Tipp City, but I had never been to Coldwater. I'm an idiot. First of all the patio has a nice vibe and the waitress, who was great, told me they're putting some coverings over it. The service was very good and that might have been the best Reuben I've ever had. There are 2 sandwiches I order anytime I'm at a new place, Reuben and Cuban. This was top notch. Now they just need to add a Cuban to their menu. If you ever find yourself up in quaint little Tipp city you need to stop here. Hell, I just drove 45 mins from Mason and it was worth it.

If you haven't had the opportunity to take your significant other for a day-night to this place your in trouble This restaurant is amazing! If you can try to eat in "the vault" ... Yeah, that's right a vault! So cool! Let alone imported salmon from Scotland and other worldly delicacies that they have on occasion. Absolutely OUTSTANDING FOOD & STAFF. I guarantee you won't find an unfriendly face in this little town's BIG CITY CLASSY restaurant!
Treat yourself!

This is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere.
Outstanding lunch, dinner, or happy hour/snack - my favorite food item to order (and share) is the mussels starter.
You will want to drink the broth but the perfectly charred toasts will do nicely.
Their salads are fresh and creative.
Their entrees are signature - great steak and seafood choices.
I think they should be world-famous for their quiche. You can enjoy a slice in the restaurant with a salad or walk next door to their store, 'the bodega' and get a slice or whole quiche (small deposit for the glass pie dish).
I recommend ordering

Let's start it this way- the best restaurant in Miami County.
I have 5 out of 5 because they earned that. The first bite of what you get each of us said, 'Holly crap is this ever delicio
I had dinner at. CWC last night with 2 business associates. The beer selection was well thought out and one of my friends had a Woodford.
I had a wedge salad with bacon and blue cheese. It was great! Next for me came the muscles that wee cooked perfect, had bits of Ramona or provolone and a delicious sambuca cream sauce. Now, I love clams or muscles if they are done right and these were wonderful
