Services
We appreciate that therapy involves the development of a supportive, confidential relationship over time. No matter what your goals are, the relationship you develop with your doctor is the most important factor in why you start to feel better. The therapy relationship is a special one because people are able to share very personal information in the context of a professional relationship, with the assurance of privacy and neutrality.
I hope this website helps you get to know West Maui Counseling Center. Every person who walks through our doors is treated with compassion, respect, and empathy. Our community deserves nothing less. I believe that people can get better, if given the right tools and support. When I first arrived on Maui, I lived in and served the people of Hana and will be forever grateful to the Hana community for welcoming me to the island in 2008.
West Maui Counseling Center accepts most private insurance plans. If your insurance is not on the list to the right, check to see if your health insurance carrier allows you to choose an out-of-network provider, as is the case with most PPO plans. WMCC can submit out of network claims for you, or provide you with a Superbill, a statement of services which will allow you to seek reimbursement from your insurance carrier.
What is teletherapy? Teletherapy is therapy through a live video connection, over the internet. Teletherapy provides the same treatment the therapist would deliver as an in-person session. Licensed therapists use traditional therapy techniques and activities just through a computer. If you've ever used Skype on your computer or FaceTime on your iPhone, you are already familiar with the same type of technology teletherapy uses.
You can also IMessage the Front Desk at frontdesk@westmauicounseling.com *No Clinical Information, Only Administrative Issues* If you need to talk to your provider, contact the front desk and make an appointment. We're Located on the Second Floor in Suite 201 of the 727 Professional Building in downtown Lahaina, directly adjacent to the Maui Jim Building on Wainee Street, Between Lahainaluna and Dickenson.

The most unreliable experience ever. First two meetings set up to support a person in need and two consecutive times with a complete no-show without any communication. I can't begin describe how unprofessional and damaging this experience has been to a family in need. No hyperbole - WMCC is unreliable and unprepared to be an advocate group for mental health needs.

I use to like this place. But I kept having to change therapist. Then the owner took my case. She was great but my “suicide” help plan was a bust. My family sent for me and I lost my place in line at WMCC. It took longer than expected for my family to get me “better”. When I finally went back there, my newest therapist was awesome! I loved her! But months later she was gone. That was my 5th or 6th one. That frustration alone was depressing and debilitating. SMH

I was told after I scheduled an appointment that my insurance wasn't accepted. They would not help me after that.

I started to go there for concerns in my personal life. Out of 11 appointments, they cancelled 8. I would get a text message saying my visit is cancelled. My credit card was overcharged without my permission for copayments. My copayments were less than the actual charge. On my intake forms I was very transparent they needed permission to charge. It was corrected, after I brought it to there attention but the energy of cancellations from there doctors and staff is totally unacceptable especially when I am in need of care. They are supposed to be there for the patient; placing our needs ahead of

If I could give WMCC a rating of ten stars, I would and it still wouldn't be enough.
When you go in, you are greeted by the warm, welcoming and extremely kind Shirley Suder at
the front desk. The surroundings are inviting, calm and comfortable.

I see Dr. Andrew Gold, a Ph.D Psychologist. I have had counseling over many years for anxiety disorder and depression, but I have NEVER met anyone with Dr. Gold's gifts. He is not only the best listener I have ever met, he manages to extract from all that I've said, what

A wonderful group of caring people! I would absolutely recommend them. If you are struggling with any mental health issues or even just everyday problems, you should definitely make an appointment. They can really help.

About two years ago, I wandered into West Maui Counseling Center looking for a professional to talk to and work through some personal troubles with. There, I found Dr. Kelly Harnick (at that time, Doty) who after our first session - made sure that I felt comfortable with her to continue our work together. At first I had some hesitation - being on a small island where people find out your business very easily - but Dr. Kelly explained her 100% commitment for confidentiality and by her approach, it was easy to see that. We continued to work together for 2+ years... and as odd as it is to say - I

I started seeing Elliot, one of the counselors at West Maui Counseling Center. I was having a really hard time. I had just moved to Maui and in the process of our move our two dogs had to be quarantined. Quarantine is forced for all animals moving to the island because Hawaii has no rabies and they want to keep it that way. The dogs are quarantined for 4 months. Yes four months!!! One of our dogs died 9 days after we got here. It was the hardest thing that ever happened to me which is why I decided to see Elliot.
I had no insurance so every week I was paying cash $200 to see him. He decided that
