St. Vincent de Paul Karate Club focuses on teaching students a solid martial arts fighting platform by developing their speed, power, footwork and proper use of hands, feet, elbows and knees. They will learn how to fight standing up, in a clinch and on the ground. Our goal is to give students the skills they will need to defend themselves.
I started the SVDP Karate Club in 2011, not as a business, but rather as a way of giving back some of my time and talent to St. Vincent de Paul Church, the community and the martial arts. I wanted to keep dues as low as possible and it was Fr Kent Hemberger, the pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Church, who made this possible.

Services
Basic martial arts skills are applied in sparring sessions with instructors and other students. Students sharpen their basic martial arts skills and increase their speed, power and focus. The SVDP Karate Club is not a traditional karate school in the sense that we do not wear gi's (uniforms), nor do we teach karate katas (forms).
No, you do not need to be a member of St. Vincent's to take lessons with us, nor do you need to be Catholic or any other religion. Everyone is welcome to take martial arts lessons with us. We're not going to preach to you-we're going to teach you self-defense!. We don't wear a gi because we believe it is best to practice in clothes you would be wearing if you were involved in a confrontation.
