There's an Italian word that describes how I like to work: sprezzatura - a studied nonchalance, graceful conduct or performance without apparent effort. Even before I knew the word, the concept was inherent to my process. A successful project, like a good conversation, can't be forced. You have to let it unfold.
I see design as evolutionary process as each project builds on a kaleidoscope of ideas not fixed by time or place. The sophistication lies in weaving the pieces together. And, while I have several commercial projects scattered across the country, my primary focus is on residential. I like the narrative, the pace, and seeing a project come alive, from first conversation to final details.
