Having earned a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology from the University of New Hampshire in 1997, Karen went on to work as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Londonderry High School until she relocated to Breckenridge, Colorado.

There she studied Reiki and achieved the Master-Teacher level in the Usui and Usui-Tibetan lineages. Eager to advance her knowledge and experience in healing modalities, Karen then enrolled in Full Circle School of Alternative Therapies in Edwards, CO, where she learned CranioSacral therapy and massage.

Kinesis Myofascial Integration (KMI) springs from the pioneering work of Dr Ida P Rolf, as developed, by Thomas Myers. KMI consists of a multi-session protocol (usually 12) of deep, slow fascial and myofascial manipulation, coupled with movement re-education. KMI is one of a number of schools that train practitioners in 'Structural Integration', Ida Rolf's name for her own work.
Now that you are starting your KMI sessions, here are some suggestions for making the most of the experience. The KMI series is a project of realigning your body, educating your kinesthetic sense, and reclaiming your whole bodily self from the many alienating influences we have in our culture.

You may find that some of the following ideas are more to your liking, while others do not fit your situation - consider them all, and then take what you like.It is recommended that you keep a journal during the process - you may be surprised at the changes as evidenced by your sensations, dreams, attitudes, or experiences.
The client moves during the application of the manual therapy. If you are lying passively on the table for most of the session, you are not getting the best work you can get. KMI follows Ida Rolf's pithy dictum: "Put it where it belongs and call for movement."

Your movement produces several benefits: it lessens the sensation by spreading it out, it engages your proprioception (inner sensing) that helps integrate the work, and it also helps the practitioner stay on the right layer of fascia during the release.Your KMI practitioner wants to hear about how the process is affecting you -physically, emotionally, in your exercise or other performance activities.
Medical Massage Therapy focuses on specific results regarding injuries and chronic pain rather than achieving total body relaxation. You can expect to be evaluated in areas of range of motion, muscle strengths and weaknesses and fascial pattern imbalances. Medical Massage therapy targets the specific connective tissues involved in the problem and uses a variety of therapeutic techniques to release the restrictions and allow for healing.
Craniosacral therapy is a gentle method of detection and correction that encourages your own natural healing mechanisms to dissipate negative effects of stress on your central nervous system. You also benefit from better overall health and resistance to disease. While the validity of the cardiovascular and respiratory rhythms is undisputed today, for eons the very existence of these systems sparked debates in medical communities around the world.

The best in the area. She has many certifications, but it's her personality and skills that make her the best.
