I started our small lighting showroom over twenty years ago. With a love of lamps, we began focusing on unique and specialty lighting. Through the years, we gained more and more lighting knowledge, learning, and growing our business into a comprehensive lighting showroom. WOW! This is the place. Very high quality items. Elegant. Whimsical too. Not just lamps. It has incredible lights and chandeliers if you're building a home or remodeling and want a statement item for the foyer or dining room. Or if you want something refreshing, artistic or unusual. This store also has a very large stock and variety of high quality lampshades, embellishments, replacement parts, etc. Can get replacements for antique or unusual lampshades. Can order special items. Owner is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. It's a small business so check the hours before heading over.

My son broke the glass on my exterior light fixture that was less than a year old (from Acclaim Lighting). I called Acclaim and was told that they don't sell to the public so I needed to look on their list of local retailers. A Shade Above is my local retailer for Acclaim products so I gave them a call. The lady on the phone asked where I had originally purchased the fixture and when I said Amazon, she refused to help me further. She said they only offer that kind of service to customers who originally purchased the item from them. She wouldn't even let me tell her the part number. So

I have had several very good experiences with Shade Above. I really don't get the negative reviews I see. They are not cheap, but it is so worth it if you have a specialized issue, repair or just something hard to find. Some things are just not readily available online or would be too costly to ship, not even to consider repacking and returning if one is not happy with their purchase.

The service and inventory at this store is just amazing! The owner took the time to help me select shades for 3 lamps. Most places have lamp shades, but no one to assist in the selection of a quality lamp shade. The owner's knowledge and experience in this line of work was obvious as soon as we started talking about what I was looking for. This type of service and experience is virtually nonexistent in most other stores. I would highly recommend A Shade Above if you are looking for lamps, lamp shades, light bulbs for your lamps, and even pull chains for ceiling fans. I am definitely going back

Prices are over the top, staff (owner I think) is not very good, and they have signs all over the place saying to not touch the shades. They want you to wait to be helped to even see what the price is. She was also very unhelpful in general and dismissive.
At to this the fact that you cannot return any merchandise and they only accept cash or checks, this is simply a business to avoid unless you just want to peek at some shades to get some ideas for what to buy online at half the price with free shipping and ability to return.

Excellent selection of lamps and shades. Unfortunately they don't accept credit cards! I was shopping for a rare bulb mounted lamp shade for my fathers reading lamp. The women helped me find what I was looking for. A bit pricey but doable on my budget. When she informed me they don't take credit cards or debit cards I was both shocked and disappointed. How in this day and age can retail store survive without accepting them is beyond me. I go months with no cash in my wallet and write maybe two checks a year. I found what I needed on line and ordered it for half the price they had it
