I'm Chrissy Deming, a documentary wedding & family photographer based in DeKalb, IL, and I believe that life deserves to be documented truthfully. In 2008, I taught myself how to use a dslr with the intention of becoming a wedding and family photographer. It wasn't until after my first son was born in 2010, however, that I began to realize the value of what I was doing for my own family, and consequently for my clients.
Over the last 10+ years of being a photographer, my family has been the biggest source of inspiration and accountability for me to not only grow my skill, but to see the inherent value of photography as a time capsule.Photographs hold stories. Chrissy is a rockstar! She was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. We started out pretty nervous in front of the camera during our engagement pictures, but she quickly made us feel comfortable and at ease during both our engagement and wedding pictures.

During the workshop, one of the workshop hosts shared that while he was on his journey into photojournalism, he decided to ask his past clients to choose one image from their wedding that they felt represented their memory of the day. Did the "creatively posed" images or the Pinterest recreations make the list?
I'm gonna let you in on a little secret: I don't believe your wedding day is about the photos. Sounds a little weird coming from a wedding photographer, doesn't it? Your wedding day is one of the most important, memorable days of your life. Promises will be made and beloved people will be present. How will you spend that one, important, unrepeatable day?
I've seen firsthand how fast kids grow and how easy it is to take for granted their quick transitions from one stage to the next. But when I look at pictures of my three kids, the memories attached to the images are so vivid that I'm thrown into a world of sentiment and nostalgia. At family sessions, my goal is to capture those little qualities of your family that are overlooked in the day-to-day.

Chrissy was our photographer throughout our wedding process. She did both our engagement photos and wedding photos, and did an incredible job on both! She is very responsive, friendly, and professional. She took the time to get to know us, and was on top of her game all night! I cannot recommend her enough!

We got married August 28th 2021 on a hot Saturday day. The night before the ceremony my husband and I were extremely anxious about how everything was going to work. one of those worries was the photos, since we are both a little awkward and have never had a photoshoot. When Chrissy showed up, talked to us, and took us around Chicago she took all those nerves away. Everything went so smooth and it felt so easy and we couldn't thank Chrissy enough for providing such a warm and light environment. Our families even commented on how sweet and helpful she was. We met Chrissy through our church, and since then, she has photographed nearly every major moment in my wife and I's relationship, and has captured every single one perfectly. I met Chrissy when she was the photographer at my sister’s wedding. She was absolutely lovely and, once I saw the pictures, I hired her right away to take the photos at my daughter’s baptism, and then again for a fall family photo shoot last year. She gave me the most amazing photos, capturing my two very young - and difficult - children in moments that I will forever cherish. We were referred to Chrissy through a friend (she was our friend's wedding photographer + took their family photos). We wanted someone to come by our condo and take some photos of us and newborn. Chrissy responded right away and we got something scheduled. She was very flexible with date/time. She took lots of photos and was very reasonably priced (esp. compared to some others that take family photos in downtown/near by downtown Chicago) . Thanks again!

Chrissy has been by our side for all of life's big moments. We met Chrissy while looking for a wedding photographer and we have continued to reach out to her whenever there is a memory worth capturing. Starting with our engagement, then of course our wedding and following our children's births. We even had seasonal shoots in there as well just for the fun of it.

My (now) husband I decided to use Chrissy for our engagement pictures in 2015. When we received the photos back, we knew right away we would use her to capture our wedding day on September 17, 2016. Chrissy was our wedding photographer, along with her second photographer, Carrie, and they were absolutely amazing. She had been recommended to me by a friend whose beautiful wedding photos I had already admired, so I knew the quality would be high going on. What was great was how much fun she was and how sweet and considerate. She got some gorgeous images of our day, while still being very conscious of how Kevin and I were feeling and if we ever needed a break or water, which was really nice. We're thrilled with the quality of our images, and we'd both highly recommend Chrissy to anyone looking

My husband and I hired Chrissy to be our wedding photographer. She also did our engagement pictures. She is not only an amazing photographer, but an amazing person as well! She is so sweet and never makes you feel uncomfortable. She is so knowledgeable about what looks good and improvises if things don't quite work out how they were planned. We had planned to get sunset pictures during our reception, but it down poured and was storming the entire night.
