Black Mental Health Alliance
To develop, promote and sponsor trusted culturally-relevant educational forums, trainings and referral services that support the health and well-being of Black people and their communities. The creation of an equitable, respectful and compassionate society. The development of Black communities in which optimal mental health enables children, youth, adults, and families to strive for and embrace their best life.

When joining BMHA, clinicians can then connect with potential patients through our referral database. BMHA offers an opportunity for clinicians to gain culturally relevant educational growth through its network of subject matter experts in behavioral health. BMHA serves the community and organizations throughout the area by providing workshops and forums covering a range of topics and subjects.

Dr. La Keita Carter is a licensed psychologist and owner of the Institute for HEALing, LLC, a wellness agency that provides comprehensive and culturally-sensitive mental. If you are a culturally-competent mental health provider serving the Black community, we have a special membership package for you.
Historical, societal and racial trauma have caused an intense demand in the Black community for mental health professionals who not only understand but empathize with their lives. Youth, families, community members and other BMHA members are constantly in search of a safe space where they can share what is going on in their head and a friendly face who listens without judgment or prejudice.
BMHA accepts interns throughout the year to work in various capacities supporting a wide range of projects and services. We have opportunities for college and graduate-level interns whose studies are focusing on behavioral health, fundraising and development, public administration or nonprofit management, as well as social media, public relations, social justice, public health, gender and women's studies, marketing and communications.
