Traverso Tree Service, Inc is owned and operated by John Traverso, who founded Traverso Landscaping in 1980. Prior to this time, John was a nurseryman for six years at Orchard Nursery in Lafayette. To supplement his winter income, John diversified and started doing tree work along with his landscaping. After becoming a certified arborist in 1986, John realized how much he enjoyed working with trees. It was not long before he phased out of the landscaping and focused entirely on caring for trees.
Outside of Traverso Tree Service, John has worked on several committees with the Western Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (WCISA), as well as served as vice president and president of the California Arborist Association in the continued effort to educate and promote quality arboriculture in our industry.Education is very important to John and he has made it a top priority in his company.

Services
At Traverso Tree Service, the safety of our customers, crew, family, and friends, is of the utmost importance to us. From the diagnostic of tree problems, to pruning, cabling and bracing, tree removal, stump grinding and planting of new trees, Traverso Tree Service, Inc is here for all of your tree care needs.
They beautify our surroundings, purify our air, act as sound barriers, manufacture precious oxygen, and help us save energy through their cooling shade in summer and wind reduction in winter. Disease or pest infestation: Some pests and disease can be abated, but there are times when the infection is too widely spread to salvage the tree or its health has been significantly compromised with no hope of recovery.
Our largest stump grinder is used primarily for front yard stumps or wider access areas. We have smaller stump grinders that can fit through a typical back yard gate. We also have a hand held stump grinder that can get to those tough access stumps located in tight areas. Our estimator can determine which machine is appropriate for your job.
We're very familiar with all of the local cities and county ordinances for tree protection. We can provide tree preservation reports, which are often required to process building permits or to get permits for tree encroachment or removal. If you're in the planning stage or already have site plans, we can visit the site and give you a free estimate for the cost of the report.
This program has been especially helpful for those clients with trees that should be pruned during the winter months (November-February) such as pines, birches and fruit trees. There is no obligation to prune your trees when we email, just a simple reminder during that typically busy time of the year.

Very, very expensive for the amount of work they did. I had one of their arborists come to give me an estimate on pruning my fruit trees; there are about 20. Some are only a couple years old, so they are little more than a stick with a few branches. Some are well established and needed a heavy hand. I received an estimate for $60 per tree...gasp...but figured it would even out between the new trees and the older ones. The crew of 3 trimmers came and spent 1 1/2 hours total pruning them (total of 4.5 man-hours). They still wanted the full charge, but I negotiated a 10% discount...all they would

Unbelievably bad tree trimming. They threw large branches down onto our landscaping, damaging bushes and breaking branches off our Japanese maple. While I was stopping the guys in the front yard, the guys in the backyard sheared large branches off the trunk; removing one whole side of our oleander tree. They were supposed to trim it at the top to keep it away from the house. Now it looks like half an umbrella. It will never grow back into a tree shape.
I stopped them about halfway through. Clearing the debris, they did more damage stepping on plants and shifting rocks off our dry stacked walls

I worked with John Traverso on a couple of projects over the past few years, one of which was a major tree survey for a potential development. He is hard working and very professional. The quality of the work was top notch and the other project participants, including the government and environmental impact analysis team were completely satisfied.

It's hard to find a reliable and reasonably priced tree service company. I went through many different companies for quotes. Some were very efficient in responding and some were booked far in advance. In terms of pricing, I had a variety of pricing. Surprisingly, I did not expect Traverso would be the cheapest out of all my quotes. One of my neighbor recommended Traverso and a lot of other people have recommended this company.
Some things that really stood out for this company is their responsiveness. So I don't like making a million phone calls to schedule appointment. Personally, I

John and his team have been taking care of our seven liquid amber trees for years now. Unfortunately, we had to remove one a year or so ago because of its horribly invasive roots. And, just this month we had to remove a second because its roots destroyed our swimming pool (very quietly and without warning). Scott gave us a fair estimate and assured us that our needs would be met and our concerns about the tree's proximity to fencing and irrigation lines would be respected.

Traverso Tree Service never fails to impress us. Their professionalism, partnership with us as clients, communication, concern for the health and safety of our trees and property, on time service delivery, swift clean-up and competitive pricing, has kept our loyalty for twenty years. First class arborists, the care that is taken when deciding what and where to cut makes all the difference between a soft and graceful artistic mushroom shape and an all to common hack job. Thanks Rafael and team for all you do to keep us insisting on your doing the work on our four Valley Oaks, two Japanese Maples

I had taken some trees out a few years back before getting permission from the county and had to put in 17 trees to make up for it. So after the trees had a couple of years to establish I needed to have a certified arborist sign off on the tree health.
After looking around on yelp for a while for a local arborist I found Traverso Tree Service. I called them up and was able to schedule an appointment quickly and easily. They asked me to send 2 pictures of each tree so they could look over the pictures before coming out and then came out on site to check the trees out in person. I got some great

Fantastic, professional service. Raphael (certified arborist) gave us an estimate that involved removing much less of our trees than "some other guy" resulting in preserving them perfectly! He even came out on the day of the work to ensure it was done the way he wanted. All of the crew were professional and courteous. Highly recommended.

Traverso has been taking care of my parents trees as long as I can remember and now that I have my own home with trees to maintain I can see why it was Traverso doing the work for all that time. They're knowledgeable and professional, friendly and informative. Plus they take great care of their workers. You wont find a better company to work with.

Can you imagine working threat of being shot with a 357 weapon by some neighbor while working next door? Traverso Tree Service crew did...I am more than satisfied with the work done on my trees by TTS. Your crew was professional. Praise to your foreman and the men on the job for their diligence. They were courteous in the face of threatening verbal abuse from a neighbor and avoided conflict. The neighbor called the police and posted unkind remarks on Yelp regarding your company. When the police arrived to interview and document the incident, it was clear there was no trespassing or damage
