Evans Funeral Home
Evans Funeral Home is a family owned and operated full service establishment that has been serving the Houston community for over fifty years. We believe that a funeral home is more than just a business. We want our families to feel welcome and at ease during one of the most difficult and overwhelming times in their lives.

Our purpose here at Evans Funeral Home is to help our families and guide them in making the choices that best suit their desires and circumstances. We specialize in personalized, traditional and cremation services, and pre-need planning. We offer video tributes, a variety of register books and service stationery, and personalized memorial folders.
Services
The history of our firm dates back to 1912, when Gaylord Elliot secured the first horse-drawn hearse used in Houston, MO. The firm was sold in 1952 to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Duff. From 1964 to 2005 the Evans Family owned and operated the funeral home, and in 2005, Shawn and Lana Brown purchased the firm.
Staff members of Evans Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals, who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral professionals. Shawn was raised in Mtn. Grove, MO and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1984.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.
Most of us are not prepared to plan and carry out a funeral ceremony for someone we love. And so much of the information available on this critically important subject fails to focus on what is most important: having a personalized, meaningful funeral that helps families and friends begin the healing process of mourning after the death of someone we love.

I have now had two family members pass and my family used this funeral homes services. Each time the lady who represents this funeral home has been shrill, unwelcoming, and completely lacks empathy for a grieving family. She is more concerned with “seating” arrangements than she is for the families being served. My husband was a pall bearer and I wanted to be sure to sit next to him as a form of comfort. I was asked to sit somewhere else and when I informed her I wished to sit with him she was rude. The funeral before this I wished to sit behind my dad since I knew he would need room for his

I've had to seek Shawn and Lana's assistance both in 2017 and 2019,and I have to say that both times they saved me from additional grief by walking me and my family through the necessary steps to put my parents to rest properly and with dignity!
Beautiful people with truly Christian Hearts!
