Our main purpose at The School of Hard Knox Martial Arts is to build a family environment. Our philosophy is to use the martial arts as a tool to teach children about physical and mental life skills, which mold them and help them become successful human beings and real life champions. The School of Hard Knox - Mount Airy is a excellent place to learn self defense , fitness, self - esteem and self empowerment from great instructors. My 13 year old daughter and 9 year old son have been a part of the School of Hard Knox family for a year and a half now. The difference between them a year and a half ago until now is like night and day. They pay so much more attention to detail now than before. They’ve always done good at school but I really think their Karate has helped them even more becoming better students. Their confidence in succeeding as individuals has been growing by leaps and bounds and I can thank Sensei Heath and Sandra and all the instructors at The School of Hard Knox for helping them make this possible. Sensi Mickey is a World Class martial artist, I have had the privilege to train with him many times and spar with some of his students. He flawlessly mingles Isshinryu and Combat Ju-Jitsu into almost one art. It is one of the best systems I’ve ever seen. It is a total fighting system from standing, to ground, to joint locks and throws. Great for exercise, self defense, or tournaments. There are no limits to what you can achieve here with the guidance and training you will receive from Sensi Mickey, and all of his staff!!! Glad to call him my friend as well as mentor...OSS🥋🥋🥋

Out of all the dojo’s I could have went to, GOD sure lead me to the perfect one for me. I can not say enough about Sensei Heath and the School of Hard Knocks family. That’s exactly how you feel from night one, welcome, like family. The dedication and time Heath and the other instructors put in to helping each and every student is heart felt and you can feel their passion to not only grow in their own skills but WANT the lower ranks to grow with them, and WANT them to want to learn more. I have been training with Sensei Mickey Heath as my instructor for a while now. One concept that I love the most is you always learn something new every single class. This man's knowledge is incredible. Another… aspect is that this school teaches the whole system and is not broken apart or watered down. Great students to train with and family environment. I love how Martial Arts can change people, make a better version of themselves. This school has my heart and I wouldn't dream of changing. The School of Hard Knox is home to me and many others. Master Heath is an incredible teacher and so knowledgeable. If you are close to this school, then go train. Enroll your kids, get in there yourself and learn how to master self defense...or train to be a full martial artist with a well-rounded ability to fight. I will be attending classes and private training with Master Heath. His character, ethical code and mastery of skill won me over, but after seeing his skill put into action, that sealed the deal for me.
