I started out working at the customer service desk of a local kitchen and bath showroom assisting customers, processing orders, and setting up deliveries. From there, I was given a hands-on opportunity to learn cabinetry and design and have made that my profession for more than 15 years. I love being outside, whether it is working with my flowers or playing a round of golf.
Interior design captured my attention at a young age. One of my earliest memories was when my mom rearranged the furniture in my room to surprise me for my birthday. From there sparked my interest in design so much, that I would go to my friends' houses and help them redecorate their room (without their permission sometimes!).
I have loved all forms of art and design since childhood. I remember drawing house plans as a kid, and rearranging rooms of furniture and building forts. After high school, I continued with my love of art and design and went to GRCC's Interior Decorating Program. My first job after college was at a kitchen and bath showroom where I learned the cabinetry industry first-hand.
I have always had an interest in drawing so took many different art classes in high school. That led to design classes in college, which opened the door to employment in different aspects of the design industry such as window treatments, paint, and flooring.
I would have to say that working kitchen and bath design is by far my favorite area of the design industry because of the craftsmanship and customization capabilities of cabinetry companies such as Pioneer Cabinetry.I enjoy my volunteer work with the American Cancer Society. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends.

We used Starlite Kitchens for a kitchen and bath remodel. We are 100% pleased with every single step of the process, from meeting with Pam and Julie to help with design and selection of materials, to each and every person who worked at our home. Jeremy was our project coordinator and he is fabulous! He kept us updated daily, was courteous and personable. Todd worked as our carpenter and man, did he do a great job! Details that we didn’t even think about, Jeremy and Todd were on top of them. Each contractor was timely, considerate about working in a home with a family (and dogs) and cleaned up

We are doing a re-model on our home and building a new kitchen and master bath, tried walk in to their store to get a quote and was greeted at the door by a lady that told me they do not allow walk ins, go online and make an app. No thanks! Not how I do things. I guess If you are that scared of this "pandemic" stay home. Just wanted to let Starlight know they missed out on $35,000 job that will be given to their competitor down the road at West Michigan Kitchen Studio who 2 days ago welcomed me and got me the quote I asked for within 24 hours.

Designing our home meant finding the right people who could help us create and implement our design which can be difficult in this area. Our builder suggested that we meet Ruth Westra early in the design phase since our design was very specific and would require more than one design meeting. Ruth invited us to come in with our own sketches, ideas, and layouts which in turn she was able to work with Pioneer Cabinet line and create the cabinets of our dreams. Each meeting, Ruth welcomed us with a warm smile, she had lots of ideas, embraced our design, and was excited to work on a contemporary design
