At the initial examination visit, we discuss your treatment with you in detail, including the cost for your particular case, how long your individualized treatment should take, types of appliances your treatment will require, etc. Any questions you have are welcome - we are here to help you understand our services!
Your dentist may have discussed with you the benefits of having healthy teeth and proper jaw alignment. Crooked and crowded teeth are hard to clean and maintain. This can result in tooth decay, worsen gum disease, and lead to tooth loss. Other orthodontic problems can contribute to abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, inefficient chewing function, excessive stress on gum tissue and the bone that supports the teeth, or misalignment of the jaw joints.
While there is no exact age for children to begin orthodontic treatment, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends visiting the orthodontist around age seven. By this age, most children have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, making it easier for the orthodontist to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems sooner and without surgery.
Two-phase orthodontic treatment is a specialized process that combines tooth straightening and physical, facial changes. The purpose of two-phase treatment is to maximize the opportunity to accomplish the ideal healthy, functional, and aesthetic result that will remain stable throughout your child's life.

We moved to PA from UT in the middle of my orthodontic treatment. I am so happy we chose to come to Family Orthodontics to. Continue treatment with Dr. Fortna and his staff. Because we had to travel a long distance for the appointments, they made sure to do as much as they could in one appointment. I loved that when I came in, I was greeted by name, each member of the staff was aware of my case, and ready to do what needed to be done. Dr. Fortna takes time to listen and educated during the appointments. I felt like they were doing what was best for my case. I highly recommend Family Orthodontics
