Hoyt Palmer and his wife Alice Cook Palmer, along with Arvil Cook (Fred Cook's uncle) open the first carpet and flooring store at Old Smithmont below Murphy Medical Center. Fred was 14 years old and he helped with installations. In 1973, Fred marries Wanda and one year later, they start their family with the birth of their first daughter, Amy.
Arvil breaks away and brings business to downtown Murphy, first located just below where Curtis Glass is currently located. In 1977 Arvil Cook's Carpet is built and Fred continues to install carpet. In 1979 son Chuck is born, six years later, Jill joins the family, and four years after, in 1989 Fred buys Arvil's business and Cooks Carpet is established.

Services
We are a family-owned business with over 40 years of professional experience proudly serving the local community and beyond. We stand behind our products and service, and work hard to satisfy our clients needs. Whether for your home, vacation home, or business, stop by or call and let's talk about your new project or latest renovation.
Our free consultations start with listening to you. We build on your perspective by adding information about the products, whether it's about which flooring best suits the needs of residential properties versus commercial; which fiber best stands up to the thrills of active children or the occasional "spills" from pets.
