Headquartered in the heart of Tampa, discerning sport fishermen and boating enthusiasts will find the home of world-renowned Sheaffer Boats and The Boat Doctor, two divisions of Sheaffer Marine, Inc. Owner and president, Ben Sheaffer III is the designer and master boat builder of the popular Sheaffer Center Console Sportfish.
Long before starting the design of the Sheaffer Boat in 1997, Ben Sheaffer gathered input on the "ideal" bay / hybrid fishing boat from his customers, many of whom were professional sport fishing guides. The result: a high-quality boat that is easy to maintain and built to last. On a regular basis, customers would bring in older 1970s-era fishing boats and other classic boats for renovation.
Sheaffer Marine's story began by rebuilding and restoring older (1960s and 70s) open center console flat back boats. While doing so, we learned a lot about the hulls, what people liked and what they didn't. In the late 1960s, the largest outboards were 70 and 90hp. Back then, engine horse power was rated at the fly wheel versus the prop, making them far less powerful than today's engines.
Wade has been a charter fishing guide since 1997 and provides world-class light tackle sportfishing for tarpon, snook, redfish, trout, king mackerel and more on his Sheaffer since 2002. Austin offers fishing charters on nearshore, inter-coastal waterways, and grass flats around Clearwater Beach, as well as inshore trips in North Tampa Bay.
