The Milwaukee Mental Health Task Force is committed to being a leader in identifying issues faced by all people affected by mental illness, facilitating improvements in mental health services, giving consumers and families a strong voice, reducing stigma, and implementing recovery principles. The Milwaukee Mental Health Task Force strategic plan has three pillars prioritizing Policy Analysis and Advocacy, Community Access, and Coalition Growth.
While there are many things working well to address SUD in Milwaukee, including peer-run respite, recovery support services, and the Narcan Direct program, the ever-increasing number of overdose deaths signals that we must do much more. Medicaid Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) update and changes, Nick Di Meo, Wisconsin DHS.
We need your input! Take the Milwaukee Mental Health Task Force survey on priorities for the 2022 Behavioral Health Division budget. We will compile the results and share them with the Milwaukee County Mental Health Board, BHD / DHHS leadership, and County Executive Crowley. Make your voice heard! Mutual aid organizations provide peer-based, non-clinical, non-professional support meetings to people in recovery from substance use disorder (SUD).
