Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient system of medicine that is supported by three primary pillars: Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, and Therapeutic Body Work. The bedrock that supports these pillars is daily physical and mental refinement.
It is my belief that the only effective way to treat each individual is to provide the right balance of these treatment methods, and to help guide those in need to finding their own appropriate discipline.Only then may we engage with the body's natural ability to heal itself. Matthew is a Chinese medicine physician and California Board and NCCAOM licensed acupuncturist.

Acupuncture is a system that engages with a network of circuitry built into the body called channels or meridians. Another way in which acupuncture can be thought of is that, by inserting needles into the sensitive points on the body, we may positively motivate the body's own resources to heal itself.
Herbal medicine is an integral part of Chinese medicine. Many TCM practitioners will use cupping and tuina to treat muskuloskeletal issues (see below), acupuncture to treat channel pathologies, and herbal medicine to treat internal diseases of a more systemic (or organ-related) nature.
In practice, we can do combination of therapies and use herbal medicine for topical applications (as with the use of pain patches and ointments, as in the ever-popular Tiger Balm), as well as for internal use (ie, in a consumable form).Packets of dried herbs are given to the patient for them to cook in a (preferably) ceramic pot for anywhere between 20-90 minutes, after which the resulting "tea" is strained and consumed when warm.

Matthew is awesome! He’s treated my neck pain, shoulder pain, low back pain, cold/flu symptoms, and even menstrual cramps 😅 I always come out of his treatments feeling better than before. I used to be nervous around anything involving needles, but Matthew always makes sure that I’m feeling comfortable and relaxed. He goes over the entire process with me, from the beginning of the consult to the end of the treatment, answering any questions I might have (whether it’s regarding the acupuncture treatment or the herbs he prescribes) with thorough and comprehensive responses. Highly highly

Mathew is the best acupuncturist I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to many acupuncturists that have been practicing for many years but none come close to Mathew. Not all are created equal. He listens and communicates very well. His needling doesn’t hurt at all. I’ve been following since he was in Los Angeles back in 2014. I feel better physically, mentally, and spirituallly, after getting treatment from Mathew but you have to listen to him if you wanna get better.

I recommend Matthew Brand for acupuncture as I’ve been seeing him for treatments for 1-2 years and he’s been a great help for pain and joint injury. He’s very caring, thorough and knowledgeable. His treatments and Chinese herbs have helped me when traditional medical care wasn’t enough or when I wanted to avoid more and more Rx medicines.
