Services
There is a segment of elderly citizens who are blessed with relatively good health and may never require the intense personal care of a nursing home. For those folks, good life care planning may be all that is needed to see them through their days with dignity and a measure of independence. Families of those with failing health, however, often have no choice but to consider the care that a nursing home would provide for their loved one.
As Elder Law Attorneys, we recognize that the issues involved with Estate and Long Term Care Planning are complex. We also know that many people might have an immediate question or concern that needs to be addressed in order to determine if they need our help. Because of this, we are happy to provide the option of a FREE 15 minute phone or video mini-consult with one of our attorneys.
Founder and Partner Carl Zacharia discusses what you should know before becoming a Floridian. Attorney Justin Ellis discusses what Medicare does and doesn't cover when it comes to long term care. Attorney Ben Urso explains the differences between a revocable trust and an irrevocable trust and related considerations when planning for.
As the average life span continues to increase, so does the need for elder law. This unique area of law focuses on meeting the goals and objectives of older clients and their families by using a variety of legal tools and techniques. Because state laws, federal laws and regulations are increasingly complex, legal matters affecting the older client and the disabled are confusing and constantly changing.
A Life Care Plan is a customized plan that coordinates every aspect of you and your loved one's chronic care. It combines legal representation, asset protection, care coordination, and advocacy.
For your Life Care Plan to be successful, there must be an understanding of your diagnoses, medical treatment, estimated costs of treatment and services, factors affecting care outcomes, psychosocial implications, and ongoing health care and long-term care needs. We are knowledgeable about community resources and eligibility for these resources.

Justin Ellis is thorough, professional, and friendly. I used Zacharia Brown for my mother's estate plan, and we were so pleased that my husband and I used him for our own estate plan. My mother's estate plan involved detailed knowledge of guardianship and a supplemental needs trust and Justin's expertise proved beneficial as we were able to succeed in our goals. I would highly recommend Justin and Zacharia Brown.

Being the administrator for my Dad's estate after his passing seemed like a daunting task. Little did I know how daunting. Fortunately I contracted with Zacharia Brown and Colleen Bratkovich became my attorney. She led me through the probate process very smoothly without any issues arising. She was there to make suggestions, anticipate the next steps, make phone calls and prepare and file documents. I do not know how I could have done it without her. In fact, my wife and I are going to be contracting with Colleen to do some personal legal work.

Our family worked with Justin Ellis from Zacharia Brown on a number of family and estate matters, and I can’t say enough about how much he has done for us. He is an excellent lawyer, and an even better person. He made confusing subject matter easy to understand for all family members involved. He was attentive and responsive. And Justin was a pleasure to work with. I recommend him highly.

I highly recommend the Zacharia Brown law firm. My mother passed away late last year, and I needed help with the legal process of probating her will. I knew of the firm through Carrie Conboy, an attorney there, and she referred me to Carl Zacharia because of his experience in dealing with several particulars of my situation. My mother spent her last years as a Florida resident, but her will was made in Pennsylvania where she spent most of her life. Also, the courts in Sarasota, FL were essentially shut down because of the covid pandemic restrictions. The Zacharia Brown law firm has offices in Pennsylvania

My wife and I worked with Justin Ellis out of the McMurray office of Zacharia Brown where we had some estate planning documents completed. Justin was very easy to work with from the start. From there he was prompt with all scheduled meetings and very thorough. Should the need arise, I plan to contact Justin and his staff without any hesitation.

Christine Brown Murphy was a fantastic attorney who helped my parents with their estate and trust planning. She was invaluable to me after both of my parents died in 2020 only four months apart. She walked me through all the steps in handling their estate, their trust and she was always there to answer any questions and handle any concerns. I would definitely recommend this firm for any estate planning needs.

If you are looking for Elder Law Attorneys, look no further than Zacharia Brown. I was in the middle of a Medicaid application for my mother that had already been denied once. It's a lengthy and complicated process. I did not want to get denied again. That's when I met with Colleen Bratkovich at ZB. My nerves were calmed immediately. She told… me exactly what I needed to do on my end, and that she was certain that this time my mom would be approved. She was right! Colleen took every one of my calls and answered all of my questions with patience and understanding. A special shout out to Mary

I went to hear Christine speak at the South Hills CC. I was very impressed. My mother and I met with her and decided that she would be the best person to help us. Today, my mom lives at home with me and I am her full time caregiver. I am paid through Medicaid and I work for a local caregiver agency. My mom is very happy and I am relieved to have my mom safe at home. Christine and the staff are professional, kind and caring. I am grateful for their help and expertise.

If you have a parent that requires a skilled nursing facility, Zacharia and Brown offer an array of guidance and expertise through the entire process. Carl is honest, and goes above and beyond to ensure that your loved ones are able to comfortably afford the costs associated with skilled nursing. Do not try to tackle this already difficult time alone. My only regret is that we did not meet with Carl sooner.
