I paid these folks directly a month before closing and within a week of receiving their invoice. Four months after closing I get a call from the title company saying that they were never paid. Why they never contacted me I'll never know. Why they couldn't find it in their own records first is also a mystery. After taking time to dig up my closing docs and then researching emails and bank records I found the canceled check with their invoice number clearly referenced on the check. I am sure it was an honest mistake, and they apologized when called on it, but the wasted time and added anxiety to
