We create a plan and do a test run to see if the product meets our quality standards or could be improved. Visit our Prototyping page for more information. We develop tooling for a variety of manufacturers that produce structural polyurethane foam to provide support in vehicles without adding significant weight.
We provide tooling for the manufacture of a variety of sports equipment, such as padding for sports helmets and the corner pylons that adorn football fields. If you need a part to build your machine, we have a wide variety of molds to create that precise part, or can provide custom tooling solutions.

Services
Founded in 1996, Kurt Willoughby started his business on his family farm. Now 20 years later, Contour Engineering has grown to be a premier tooling supplier to the plastics industry. We develop custom tooling solutions for a variety of clients. Many of our clients are dunnage and packaging specialists, thermo formers, and RIM, and other mid-sized manufacturers.
We've had decades of experience to hone our craft. Our expertise allows us to anticipate problems and avoid them, creative problem solve, and create precise products down to the millimeter! Tooling development is the process of creating a mold that will be used to create the shape of your product or part.
Whether you have a blueprint for your prototype or you have an idea you want to make tangible, we're here to guide you through the process. Once you have an idea, the process to make it a reality starts with design. Using the appropriate design software we develop a math model. After approval from the client we machine the appropriate prototype/pattern tool whether it be wood, composite, or aluminum.
Whether you're sketching ideas on paper or creating a model with CAD technology, planning is one of the most important stages of the manufacturing process. Still, despite all your planning, you might need to make multiple prototypes based on how they function in the real world. A prototype is a rough draft version of a product.
We offer prototyping services specific to our clients' needs. We create prototype molds when we develop the tooling you need to produce custom parts, products, and packaging. We are equipped with everything necessary to create precision custom tooling components for production of products that serve a variety of industries.
