Dr. Bill Haltiwanger opened his orthodontic practice in 1972 to provide the communities of Rockingham and Wadesboro, and nearby South Carolina towns of Cheraw, Chesterfield and Bennettsville with exceptional orthodontic care in a warm, family-focused environment. Services
I am a certified dental assistant through North Carolina Dental Assistant Training School in Charlotte. I completed the program in March of 2019, however I am currently working in the office as an office assistant and insurance coordinator. I enjoy helping patients come up with a financial plan created just for them.
Your first visit to our office will be a complementary exam. Dr. Haltiwanger will evaluate the dentition for misalignment, malocclusion, jaw relationship issues, and other possible problems. He will then discuss possible treatment that might be needed, an estimate of how long the treatment might take, and an estimate of the treatment fee.
The cost of your orthodontic treatment may vary depending on your individual needs and treatment plan. During your visit, we'll discuss with you the cost of your treatment, and each of your available payment plan options, so that you are able to make the best choice for you and your smile. We will work with you to create a payment plan that fits your budget, and you will know what to expect before beginning treatment.
While there is no exact age for children to begin orthodontic treatment, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends visiting the orthodontist around age seven. By this age, most children have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth, making it easier for the orthodontist to diagnose and correct tooth and jaw problems sooner and without surgery.
Now that you have your braces, how do you take care of them? It's important for you to know how to properly take care of your braces throughout your entire orthodontic treatment. Don't worry, you'll be eating popcorn and snacking on potato chips again in no time! However, before you can start enjoying some of the treats you love, you will need to take special care to avoid any foods that could damage your new appliances.

Very professional and knowledgeable, Dr. Haltiwanger goes above and beyond to make sure the quality of his work is nothing short from perfection! Staff is friendly and efficient, great teamwork with the patient’s safety and happiness in mind. I would definitely recommend if you are wanting a beautiful smile!
