Armor Lock & Key's owner Alex Ramirez is an "Automotive Specialist." In fact, the more complex a locking system is, the better he likes it. He's so dedicated to his craft that other locksmiths often send their difficult work to him! According to Alex, if he can't make the key you need, then he can get it made - all makes of cars, all years, and all types.
If your car was made after 1983, chances are your key came with what's called a "fob, " or a "remote." Remotes perform a variety of jobs, from unlocking the car's doors to actually starting the motor, and it's all done by radio frequency without the user ever touching the car or using the key. If your vehicle is newer, however, your remote may be capable of much more.
Vehicle transponder keys - used since the 1990s - have a microchip embedded in the plastic head of the key that acts as a radio transmitter. The name itself comes from a combination of the terms "transmitter" and "responder." The embedded chip sends a specific numeric code via radio signal to the antenna coil in the vehicle's ignition; if the chip sends the correct number, the engine immobilizers are turned off and the engine starts.
Armor Lock & Key is a professional locksmith service with over 15 years of industry experience. During our years of service we have successfully opened and secured locks, safes and doors for a variety of automotive, residential and commercial customers. I called and had a very good conversation with Alex about the anti-theft key on my car that has appeared to fail. He walked me through several procedures to try before having him come out. I found him to be knowledgeable and very helpful. I still haven't "officially" used their service, but am very pleased that he would have me try other approaches before calling the locksmith out for a task that he says may not fix my problem. That alone speaks to the integrity of this business.
While I haven't used them yet, they will be my go-to locksmith when the time comes!!
