A skin condition where areas of the skin darken and thicken, causing the skin to feel velvety. Alopecia means hair loss, and alopecia areata means hair loss in patches, or select areas. This is the most common form of skin cancer. This kind usually develops on the head, neck, and back of hands, or those places exposed to the most sun.
Everyone loses hair; an average person will lose about 50-100 hairs per day. When you begin to see bald patches or area that are thinning, that is defined as hair loss. This disease usually begins as pimple like bumps on the skin, usually in the underarm or groin region. Early diagnosis can prevent HS from worsening and growing deep into the skin.
This common skin problem causes brownish patches on the face. While usually appearing on the face, it can also be found on other parts of the body exposed to a lot of sun. MOLES - If you notice changes in a mole's color, height, size, or shape, you should have a dermatologist evaluate it. Most moles appear in early childhood and during the first 30 years of a person's life.

Dr Luca is the only reason I came to this place. I have had terrible eczema for 10+ years and have had the same medicine for it and was told by a nurse (who had terrible customer service) I could not get a refill of my topical cream medication until I was seen in a few months at my next appointment. I have travelled to Dr Luca’s in Columbus from Cleveland but I will be switching dermatologist because of this. Dr Luca is fantastic but the nurses and scheduling is awful.

Dr Luca is an excellent dermatologist. Although it may seem that her practice is primarily focused on cosmetic skin care, she is actually very, very knowledgeable in regards to skin cancer and other such maladies. If I am concerned about a spot on my skin, she never belittles me or makes me feel ridiculous. On the contrary, she encourages me, and I’m sure the rest of her clients, to never wait if I have something I consider to be suspicious or abnormal. She is very professional and friendly.

Dr Luca is amazing! I hate going to the derm for my yearly check...due to family history it is always very emotional for me and she is so kind and patient. She is extremely Thorough which is great but can be a little awkward but she is so great about putting you at ease. I did see other reviews that talked about wait times....my very first appointment she did let me know that she works with a lot of cancer patients and those appointments can take time. I personally schedule my time knowing I may have a wait and knowing I most certainly would not want her rushing through her appointment with me

Dr. Luca is a living saint. She is kind, patient, pleasant and very professional. I was seen right away during each visit with little to no wait. I was taken seriously. She really listened to me. She was knowledgeable and very accurate about my condition. I wasn’t rushed or made to feel like a bother - like how other Doctors can make you feel. I would very very much recommend her to anyone looking for a dermatologist. She is a very good Doctor.

Dr. Luca and her team are amazing. I have a blood/needle phobia, and they all went above and beyond to help me through a biopsy. They were patient, kind, and took their time explaining every part of the procedure. Even after the biopsy was done, they gave me ample recovery time and even called later to check in. I am so glad to have found Dr. Luca!

I love Dr. Luca as a doctor, she is extremely professional and thorough and I’m very happy with my care. I would love to give her 5 stars but cannot as I’ve waited over an hour just to be called back into a room for my last 3 appointments. Once in a room, it’s another wait of 15-30 minutes. I’m sitting in her office now and my appointment was 55 minutes ago, I’ve not been called back and there are 5 of us waiting.

I have been going to Dr. Luca for over 11 years. I have been very happy with my care. Since I have a family history of skin cancer including melanoma, I am very diligent in getting my annual skin check-up and coming in when I have suspicious moles. Yes, the wait is usually long both in the waiting area and in the exam room, but so is the wait for my primary care physician, who is fantastic. I expect it and plan for it. I have never had a bad experience with Dr. Luca, the nurses or the reception folks. I recommend Dr. Luca to my friends and family. In fact, my son is now going to her for his check
