This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at in some time. The rooms are comfortable and well organized for our family of four with generous counter space. We especially liked the sports center with kids playroom, bar, climbing wall, and hot tub.

We will definitely be back.

My company put us up here for an executive strategy retreat, and we were very disappointed:
1. There was no staff on call or available after hours for checking in, or to turn off the building security alarm that started beeping loudly at 1am and continued until 8am. We called every extension on the hotel phone and no one answered.
2. Our fellow guests were there for a wedding, and partied late into the night, with no regard for people who might want to sleep on a Thursday.
3. The restaurant/cafe doesn’t open until 8, and is outrageously overpriced.
This is a country club masquerading as a

Nice recreation center with rock bouldering, hoop, foosball, kids play room, TV with video games, computers, billiard, swimming pool, jacuzzi, bar and bistro. We were there for the wedding post-rehearsal. We enjoyed open bar that groom’s father provided.

Secluded location with great staff. The ladies at the front desk were top notch with excellent customer service skills. The room is nice although the windows on the second floor do not open and hot days the hotel air-conditioning cant keep up with the demand. The hotel is situated across the street and down the hill from the actual recreation area and pool. This alone can be a deal breaker for some. Nice quiet location and if your lucky you get a view of the golf course. Some other issues is that the restaurants are closed on Tuesday and Wednesday so if you want a meal you need to drive in to town

Unreal track with spectacular views on almost every hole. Staff was very friendly and helpful especially Todd Bailey. 10/10 would recommend, not for the faint of heart.

Rooms were very nice, our group of 6 stayed 2 nights. The problem was that the restaurants were closed, because of COVID not hotel’s fault. However it was told to me that the resort fee of $25 a day would be removed, because those facilities were closed. We would of stayed in a hotel had we known. Checked out early 8:00am no one at the desk so didn’t discover discrepancy until finally got the email with with itemized charges.I don’t appreciate being mislead.

Absolutely stunning!
This is a beautiful, quiet, secluded place if you need to come recharge in nature while having all the amenities of home.
Amazing views, stunning sunsets, great places to hike, and you can visit the world famous "Dragon Golf Course" or just simply relax by the pool and enjoy the private villas.
The restaurants are 5 star food with a variety that changes weekly.
Serene atmosphere but close to Truckee if you are into gambling and a faster pace environment.
If your looking for some prime real estate, this place also has open houses with lots you can purchase and

Really great experience. They nicely maintained property but the food was only ok. Interestingly their hours of operation were reduced due to staffing shortages..

The air conditioning is out and our room has been 84* the manager and front desk said we could check out if we are not happy and blamed our side companies. They gave us a fan and said open the window and promised it would be quiet. We were awake all night with hear, barking dogs, people and car alarms in parking lot. In addition the hallway lights were out. The rooms are very small too. The manager Richard is very disrespectful and lacks empathy for a family trying to enjoy vacation. We have spend over $1000.00. We won’t ever come back.

We had a golf reservation for two at 8:30am on Wednesday June 16th. Traveled from Sacramento just to play The Dragon. Arrived at 7:30am to check in, hit the range and putting green for some warmup before an enjoyable round of golf at a beautiful course.

When we checked in, we were informed they had a tournament scheduled and the course was closed. They asked where the reservation was made. It was made on their website ... had the printed confirmation with us. They seemed surprised that we had a reservation and then told us they attempted to contact us via phone and email. According to them, the

We loved Nakoma! The area is stunning. It is Tahoe without the crowds. The hotel is not fancy but very comfortable. The rooms with terraces facing the forest / golf course are wonderful - we sat out there often, enjoying the peace and quiet and also getting to know some of our hotel neighbors (there is no privacy on the terrace but we didn't mind - it was fun to meet other guests). THE FOOD AT THE MAIN LODGE IS EXCELLENT. Super friendly staff, even if service was a bit slow. I was very impressed by the healthy, fresh food that wasn't overly salted or sugary. Lots of great choices on the menu. Clearly

In the midst of covid, we were looking for a vacation option that was off the beaten path. Nakoma is a little gem in the beautiful and scenic county of Plumas,(one hour from Truckee). The food, accommodations and amenities were amazing. Joanna and her team at the Altitude Recreation Center were fabulous and responsive to any needs that arose. The Wig Wam and golf offerings were great. I would give it a 5 but the cabin that we stayed in had an issue and we were without a sink and had maintenance in and out for days. I highly recommend.!!!

We are there tonight for dinner.
At check in we were told that we did not have a reservation in spite of close to ten email reminders. After I showed one of the emails the hostess said hmm I saw it somewhere but you did not make it on the list.
We were seated and waited 15 minutes before a drink order was taken. Another 15 minutes went by until food order was taken. I asked what one of the appetizers were and I was told she thought it was bread and butter with lemon. I asked if it was good and she said she never tried it so she had no idea.
After a full half hour waiting for bread and appetizers

We can't recommend this lodge enough. We had booked 3 nights at our favorite place in Tahoe City but arrived in town to find it far more crowded than expected and with not nearly enough mask-compliance for us to be comfortable. We get it- a bunch of people had the same idea as us in running away to Tahoe to try to kill the C-19 boredom- but the crowds and lack of mask usage on the street was a buzzkill because we are at risk. We called The Lodge at Nakoma as a last-ditch effort to avoid canceling the whole trip and driving back down the hill to home and the heat. We were looking for something

This is the first review I have ever written, given our experience I felt compelled.

We just returned from a two night stay at the resort. I'm not sure how long they have been back open due to COVID restrictions, but they are not ready for prime time. We had dinner at the resort on Friday night, we all felt sorry for our server as she spent all night apologizing for the many issues in getting drink orders out of the bar, dinner orders out of the kitchen (a very long wait, orders not correct and of questionable quality). It took us 3 hours to get through 2 rounds of drinks, an appetizer and

Welcome to Nakoma. Now you are on your own.

We stayed at a timeshare villa, which was stunning. It was a lovely little home impeccably decorated. At check in, we were told we could not use the pool, fitness facility, hot tub, etc as our time-share did not include those amenities. However, our villa had it's own private hot tub and sauna. Which indeed it did. We enjoyed the hot tub the first night and looking at the stars. The next day, the hot tub was half empty, bubbles would not turn off. We would never use it again and reported it 4x over the course of the week. Response, "

We had a 2BR villa at Nakoma Resort. It is billed as a Frank Lloyd Wright design and the unit itself was beautiful, just gorgeous. However, it was severely lacking what you would expect in a premium resort. E.g. No amenities.

They have a wonderful facility on site with a pool, workout area, hot tub and sauna, but we were told that these amenities were not available to us by management. They did not even offer it to us for a fee. Not good for families as there were no organized activities at all. Staff was not welcoming upon arrival. There was a golf course, but they didn't even

I can't say enough good things about Nakoma Resort. This was our third time going in the past two years. We have two small children and this is probably the only place where I really get to relax. The whole complex is geared towards families and nothing is too difficult for them to accommodate. We stayed at the lodge the past few times, but will probably stay at one of the villas if we go with family or friends the next time.

They have a shuttle that will take you from the lodge to Altitude, the recreation center. We really enjoyed the recreation center. It is so thoughtfully built

This was our first visit to Nakoma Resort. The Lodge room was spacious and comfortable. The WiFi is severely inadequate. When we asked about it the excuse was " we are in the mountains ". They need to add a repeater to their router so the signal will reach the rooms down the hall. We had a problem with the guests in the room next to ours which escalated the second night of our stay. But once I called night security they took care of it by asking those guests to vacate the premises.

We were surprised that the restaurant and the activities lodge including the pool were about a 10 minute

+ Nice staff
+ clean, comfortable room (though bed was very soft and pillow flat)
+ new rec area with gym, pool, climbing wall and bistro
- we ate at the bistro which had a limited menu. Got a burger and was told it could only be served well. Also, server forgot to bring waters.

Bottom line: Great overall experience, stunning location, friendly staff; one area of improvement could make it even better.

We recently stayed at the Nakoma Lodge while in the area for an annual cycling event. First of all, the overall experience was great and positive! In addition to offering a really cool & thoughtful event package (lodging + meal) -- meaning they're "in touch" with the area's event calendar and creative about their offering -- the staff was super friendly, accommodating, and overall everything went smoothly (for the most part). The place is also stunning
