Services
The Industrial Arts Institute is licensed by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO), a Veteran-approved training facility and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, offering a premier comprehensive welding program that prepares students for successful and rewarding careers in the industry.
A native of Indian River, Tammi earned her bachelor's degree in Business and Communications from Saginaw Valley State University in 1993. Tammi joined the Industrial Arts Institute team in May of 2014 as Business & Student Services Manager and then advanced her position to Operations Manager and now as our Executive Director.
Industrial Arts Institute is a 501(c)(3) and we strive to maintain transparency with our financials. We are extremely careful with the dollars our donors have entrusted to our care. Our mission is to prepare students for careers in the welding industry, and every donation, every sale, and every dollar raised is directly reinvested into programs that advance student success and introduce new generations to the art of welding.
In 2019, there were 438,900 welders, cutters, solderers, and brazers, and growth for this career is predicted at 3%. While that's only average growth, the American Welding Society forecasts that there will be a 300,000 worker shortage by 2024. Why? The average age of a welder in the industry is 55, and as these older workers retire, there aren't enough younger ones to replace them.
Tuition includes a welding kit (passive welding helmet, 2 pairs of welding gloves, a welding jacket and textbooks). Comprehensive Industrial Welding is for the student who is looking to enter the welding industry. This course provides 760 clock hours of employer-model, real-world welding training provided by instructors with diverse industry experience.
