Brittny Chandra is an internationally recognized Kathak artist, and a member of UNESCO's International Dance Council. She is a disciple of Guru Prashant Shah ji.
He is a senior disciple of Padma Bhushan recipient, Smt. Kumudini Lakhia. Guru Prashant ji is the recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Yuva Puraskar (National Award) established by President of India in the name of Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for Kathak dance. Brittny has learned from Kumud Savla ji of Nritya Natya Kala Bharti, through her formative years.

Chandra Dance Academy's mission is to endow education and tradition of the ancient art of Kathak through a fresh, and youthful perspective. While keeping consistent with the ancient style, we add a modern athleticism and flair. Our focus is to perfect the Nritta, Nritya, and Natya aspects of Kathak through dedicated training.
Kathak is one of the eight major classical dances of India. The word Kathak is derived from katha, meaning "the art of storytelling." This dance began with the community of artists known as Kathakars, whose profession was to narrate history while including all aspects of drama.

Chandra Dance Academy is authorized to teach the Certificate and Diploma programs in Kathak from Bharati Vidyapeeth. These courses are in modular form of one year each. Total duration of the entire course would be nine years. Based on the syllabus you have completed so far you can appear for the appropriate examination.
Traditionally Bollywood dance was primarily modeled on Indian dance styles; classical as well as folk dances. As it continues to grow in popularity, Bollywood dance is increasingly becoming a fusion of dances from all over the world. It is a highly energetic and expressive dance form. A performer will act out the words of the song and engage his and/or her audience with the story being told.
Yearly Payment Option: Tuition is charged yearly, 5% discount is deducted for all students who pay yearly. Monthly Payment Option: At the time of registration, first and last month's tuition will be charged to the payment method you have stored. At the time of registration, you will be charged tuition for the current month of registration and the last month of the semester.

Brittny is an amazing teacher. She takes her time to ensure you learn the proper technique from the beginning, and that you're learning a good mix of everything, not just focusing on one area, over and over again. She's happy to share everything she has learned and answer every question you ever have. She has plenty of students, but she never makes an individual feel like she's just lost in the crowd. I wish I'd joined her classes sooner, but I'm glad I joined them when I did! 😊
